The Taunton Fire Department is always seeking new members for both
firematic and administrative positions. Men and Women ages 18 and above are
encouraged to apply. There is no prior experience necessary and all
training and equipment will be provided to you at no cost. Once the
application is complete prospective members go through a very brief
interview process in which you will be given a complete overview of our
operations and the different opportunities that will be made available to

GiGi's Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Centers offer therapeutic and educational programs that advance literacy, math skills, motor skills, and more; all of which are free of charge. We are in need of volunteers to assist our program hosts with set up, clean up, and during programs. We also have administrative and organizational tasks that volunteers can help with. VAN DUYN HOME AND HOSPITAL NEEDS VOLUNTEERS!!!    Ages 14+ are needed for a variety of duties at their location at 5075 W. Seneca Turnpike. Volunteers are needed for:

  • transporting patients
  • working in the recreation department
  • light office duties
  • future Gift Shop duties

The Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge needs volunteers.  They are needed to staff the Visitor Center, information desk and the Lodge Gift Shop.  Training will be provided.  Other needs include landscaping, program planners and light office duties.  The refuge is located at 3395 State Route 20 East, Seneca Falls.  For further information, call 568-5987 or e-mail andrea_vanbeusichem@fws.gov.

 

Astride, Inc. is looking for people to help with horseback riding lessons for people with disabilities. Volunteers are needed to lead hroses and walk alongside and assist riders. Habitat for Humanity

 

Syracuse United Youth is a chapter of Syracuse Habitat for Humanity that engages youth, ages 5-25, to work together to fully fund and build a Habitat home. The four goals of Youth United:

  • Involve youth in their communities
  • engage youth in Habitat's mission of eliminating substandard housing
  • foster teamwork among diverse groups of youth
  • develop youth leaders

Montezuma Audubon Center

The Montezuma Audubon Center (MAC) is a state-owned facility operated through a cooperative agreement between the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the National Audubon Society. The MAC houses a large exhibit area, classroom, nature store, office area, auditorium, and a meeting room. On its 198 acres, there are five different types of habitat, two restored freshwater marshes, a one-mile hiking trail, and an all-access observation platform. The Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) is one of the largest conservation projects in the nation for reclamation of important wildlife and wetland habitat. The complex is a crucial migration stopover point for migrating waterfowl in the northeast.

The Montezuma Audubon Center is looking for volunteers to do a variety of jobs at the Center.  This is a wonderful opportunity for any student, however it is especially good for those with an interest in environmental sciences and conservation

 

 

Erie Canal/Sims Store

Camillus Erie Canal/Sims Store:  Just located outside of the Village of Camillus, there is plenty of work to do at this historical site.  Duties will include construction, trail work, landscaping and/or painting.  Students under age 14 need parental supervision.  There are many opportunities for Eagle Scouts projects, and Participation in Government class requirements.  Contact Mr. or Mrs. Beebe at 488-3409 for further information, or to sign up.

 

 

 

Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House is always looking for volunteers. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must accompany you while at RMHC of CNY. Community and school groups of all ages are welcome to volunteer in small groups. Groups under 18 must have an adult chaperone at all times while in the House. Sarah House is a home for families that live out of town that have a loved one hospitalized for an extended period of time in the Syracuse area. They are looking for volunteers for different tasks such as yard work, greeting, office work, and light housekeeping. If you are interested, please stop by the CC for an application.  

 

St. Camillus Health and RSTabilitation Center volunteers are needed.  If you are 16 years or older, please contact Michelle Viau at 703-0687.  St. Camillus also offers seniors a scholarship if you have 50 hours of volunteer service with them and are pursuing a career in a health care field.  Applications available at the CC or download one at www.st-camillus.org.  For further information, contact Michelle at volunteer@st.-camillus.org

Rescue Mission:  Looking to fulfill some volunteer hours?  Flexible hours are available at the Thrifty Shop in Fairmount (a few doors down from Subway).  To apply, visit www.rmsyr.org and go to volunteers,  then click on "individual application".  You can fill that out and submit it electronically.  After that is sent, at some point you will  receive an agreement in the mail that needs to be signed and returned to the Rescue Mission.  Students must be at least 16 years of age.  Younger students must have a parent go with them.  For questions, contact emily_lee@rmsyr.org.

Fairmount Community Library

Fairmount Community Library:  Located at 406 Chapel Drive, the Library welcomes volunteers on a regular basis as well as temporary to fulfill community hour commitments.  Call 487-8933 to sign up or for more information.  Duties include, but are not limited to light office work, working on annual fund drive, and putting books away.

 

VA Hospital

VA Hospital has many volunteer opportunities available.  The minimum age is 14 and parental consent is needed for anyone under the age of 18.  Forms are available in the CC.  Students are required to participate in the VA Voluntary Service orientation.  For more information, call 425-4317.  Training for this volunteer opportunity will be Saturday, 3/25/17 . Make-a-Wish

CAT LOVER? Future Veterinarian?  Central New York Cat Coalition is in need of volunteers to help care for their cats that are up for adoption in the Fairmount PetSmart store.  Volunteers work two hour shifts.  Their duties include cleaning cages, feeding cats, and interacting with the cats and customers who are interested in adopting.  Volunteers must be 18 or be accompanied by an adult.  To "apply" to to the PetSmart store and fill out the application for volunteering or call Dave at 395-5713.  These volunteers play a critical part in helping the unwanted kitties to find good homes.

Brookdale Senior Living

Brookdale Villas of Summerfield Senior Retirement Community is looking for volunteers to assist residents with crafts, Christmas card writing, games and other activities.
