The Results are in...

West Genesee residents approved the 2013-2014 budget and bus proposition on May 21, 2013. The $73,294,075  budget received 1,335 favorable votes, and 265 votes in opposition.

A second proposition to purchase school buses was approved 1,220 to 375. Thank you to the community for your continued support!

Other propositions to provide funding to the following libraries were put to a vote as well and approved: Maxwell with 1,194 in favor and 320 opposed, Fairmount with 1,201 in favor and 376 opposed, and Onondaga Hill with 1,133 in favor and 433 opposed.

Board of Education Candidates are Elected

Elected to the Board of Education for three-year terms beginning in July, are incumbents Karen Fruscello  with 1,140 and Roberta Herron with 1,057 votes.  New to the Board is Kimberly Coyne with 1,111 votes.

Voting Information - Q&A

  • When and Where is the Budget Vote? - The Annual School District Board of Education Election and Budget Vote will take place from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in the West Genesee High School Auditorium Lobby.
  • Who is Eligible to Vote? - You are eligible to vote on May 21 if you are a U.S. citizen, 18 years or older, and have been a District resident for at least 30 days prior to the vote. No pre-registration is required although personal identification may be requested at the polls. Questions? Call the District Clerk at 315-487-4563.
  • Can I Vote by Absentee Ballot? - Residents who will not be in the area on May 21 may apply for an absentee ballot at the District Office. If the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter, the application must be submitted at least seven days prior to the vote. If the absentee ballot is to be picked up by the voter in person, applications will be accepted until May 20. Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 4:00 p.m. on May 21.

Superintendent Dr. Christopher Brown will be giving a visual presentation to explain the proposed 2013-2014 school budget at these PTA/PTO and public meetings:

April 23 - OR/ST/WGMS/WGHS - 7:00 p.m. at the High School Large Group Instruction (LGI) Room

May 1 - Budget Public Hearing - 7:00 p.m. at the High School Library

May 7 - Budget Public Hearing - ST/SR/CMS/WGHS - 7:00 p.m. at the High School Large Group Instruction (LGI) Room

The public is invited to attend any of these presentations.
