LIBRARY PROCEDURES FOR ALL ELEMENTARY LIBRARIES:

Library Hours:

Monday through Friday  - 9:00 am to 3:40 pm

Overdues:

Notices are given to students during library class. Bills are sent home periodically for severely overdue items. Please return your materials on time. If lost or damaged, items will have to be replaced or paid for.

LOAN INFORMATION

Loan procedures vary from school to school. Please refer to the information below for your school. 

East Hill - Loan Information

Loan periods:  
  • Books - one week loan, may be renewed up to three times
  • Playaways - one week loan, may be renewed up to two times
  • DVD's and Magazines - one week loan, may not be renewed
  • Reference Books - do not circulate
  • New Books - limit one new book per student for the first four weeks after receiving the new book

 

Loan information:
  • DVD's - available for grades 2-5
  •  Magazines - available for grades 3-5
  •  Playaways - available for grades 4-5 *

Our library operates on a trade system - you may take out one item for each item you return. If all items are returned, you may check out the maximum items allowed for your grade level. If no books are returned and you already have reached the maximum checkout limit, you need to return the items before checking out any additional items.

Maximum checkouts:
  • Kindergarten - 1 item per week
  • 1st Grade - 1 item per week, 2 items per week beginning in January
  • 2nd Grade - 2 items per week
  • 3rd Grade - 3 items per week **
  • 4th Grade - 3 items per week **
  •  5th Grade - 3 items per week **

 

* Exceptions may be made for Playaways that will allow 3rd grade students to check out these items. These exceptions will be made on a class by class basis. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the librarian.  

** Exceptions may be made to the maximum checkout limit for grade 3rd-5th in the event of a class research project that requires printed materials. In the event of a class research project, students may check out additional books for their research projects.

Onondaga Road - Loan Information

Loan periods:  
  • Books, DVD's and magazines - one week, may be renewed a maximum of three times
  • Reference books - do no circulate
  • New Books - 1 per student, may not be renewed

 

Loan information:
  • BOCES DVD's - check out to grades 2-5
 

Our check out procedure dictates that all overdue items must be returned each week.  A student may check out the number of books equal to the number of books they returned.  Example:  A 4th grader returned 2/3 of their library books; they are then allowed to check out 2 more books for the week.  The exception would be if the student's books are more than 2 weeks overdue - if that is the case they are not allowed to check out books until all books have been returned.

Maximum checkouts:
  • Kindergarten - 1 item
  • 1st Grade - 1 item
  • 2nd Grade - 2 items
  • 3rd Grade - 2 items
  • 4th Grade - 3 items
  • 5th Grade - 3 items

 

Split Rock - Loan Information

Loan periods:  
  •   Books, audiobooks, DVD's and magazines - one week, may be renewed a maximum of three times
  •   Reference books -  Do not circulate

 

Loan information:
 

Our check out procedure dictates that all overdue items must be returned each week. No new items can be checked out until ALL overdue materials are brought back to the library.

Maximum checkouts:
  • Kindergarten - 1 item
  • All other grades - 2 items

 

Stonehedge - Loan Information

Loan periods:  

All materials circulate for one week and are due at the student's next library visit.

Loan information:
 

If a student does not return his/her library materials on the due date, they receive an overdue notice and cannot take anything out until all items are returned. They may return them the next day and take out one book until next library visit.

Maximum checkouts:
  • Kindergarten - 1 item from the E section
  • First grade select one book from anywhere in the library
  • 2nd grade may select two items, including magazines. One item should be a book.
  • 3rd grade may select three items including DVD and software CD's
  • 4th grade may select four items
  • 5th grade may select five items
