Seussical the Musical will take center stage this weekend at Camillus Middle School on November 22 at 7:00 p.m. and November 23 at 6:00 p.m.
Seussical is based on the works of Dr. Seuss. It weaves together his most famous tales and characters from at least fifteen of his books, with lively music from Tony Award winning composers, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
The heartwarming tale is narrated by the infamous, Cat in the Hat (David Wenner) and follows the adventures of Horton (Anthony Gettino), an elephant, who one day hears voices coming from a speck of dust and Jojo (Mia Sveen), who lives on "The tiniest planet in the sky!" Mr. Mayor (Mitchell Kristoff) and Mrs. Mayor (Olivia Doner) are at their wits end due to Jojo's use of his imagination. Horton is ridiculed and bullied by the Sour Kangaroo (Micayla MacDougall) and the other animals in the Jungle of Nool for believing in something he cannot see and being different. Gertrude McFuzz (Joanna Maressa) faithfully supports Horton and in the process is lead astray by Mayzie la Bird (Emily Augello) and the three Bird Girls (Allison Brusa, Lindsey Fiorelli, and Emma Flaherty). Jojo's adventure's brings him face to face with General Genghis Khan Schmitz (Robbie Jocz) and stuck in the world of hunches.
Seussical travels everywhere from the Jungle of Nool to McEligott's Pool, some of the characters fall in love, some have desperate adventures, and some even save the world. A terrific ensemble rounds out the cast of this year's production.
This year's musical is directed by Kristyn Sperduti with musical direction by Don Schuessler, costumes by Cindy Kissane and set construction/painting by Jeff Bowe.
Tickets are $6.00 at the door.
