West Genny Students Excel at Central New York Science and Engineering Fair


On March 26, students from Camillus Middle, West Genesee Middle School, and the high school competed in the Central New York Science and Engineering Fair sponsored by the MOST and Lockheed Martin.

Over 250 students participated this year and each student utilized their own school projects from science fairs held earlier in the year. Awards were given at honors, high honors, and highest honors levels. In addition, there were special awards given by local businesses, professional societies, and educational organizations judged by a set of specified criteria.  

Joanna Maressa, a junior from the high school, was a 2017 Ying Scholar Semifinalist and also honored with the ASU Walton Sustainability Solutions Initiatives for her project, Green Feet.

Liam O'Connor of CMS received high honors in his 7th grade group.

West Genesee Middle School eighth graders Gabrielle Mitchell and Amanda Casolareeach received a Honeywell Summer Science Week Scholarship  for their project name, The Colors in your Candies.
