National Merit Semi-Finalists and Commended Scholars are Announced

POSTED ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2016/UPDATE POSTED ON SEPTEMBER 21, 2016

Seniors Amanda Lowther and Russell Graziano have been named Semi-Finalists along with seniors Amelia Ryan, Julia Musengo, and Jesse Elmer who have been named Commended Scholars in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.

These students are among 34,000 of over a million students who entered the Merit Program by earning high scores on the Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT) taken in October of their junior year. Only 16,000 students are semi-finalists. Scholarships awarded through National Merit Scholarship Corporation programs are regarded as a high academic honor.

The students and their parents will be recognized at the Board of Education meeting on November 2, where they will receive letters of commendation from Board President Roberta Herron, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Christopher Brown, and Executive Principal Geoffrey Morton.
