High School Students Experience a Simulated DWI Crash for their Peers

POSTED ON MAY 11, 2012

On Friday, May 11, 2012, a simulated car crash was conducted at West Genesee High School by the Camillus Police Department, Fairmount Fire Department, Waves Ambulance, Buranich Funeral Home, Meyers Collision, the District Attorney and Medical Examiner's Office with students from the high school.

When asked what the purpose of the exercise is,  Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Chris Brown, responded, "To me this exercise is to give the students a heightened awareness of what can happen if bad decisions are made behind the wheel of a car."

Almost 800 juniors and seniors witnessed the demonstration as many of them planned to finish out the day at their Senior Ball which many of them plan to drive to.

Camillus Police officer gives a sobriety test to William Hess, the driver of the vehicle who is suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.
