Making emphasizes learning-through-doing in a social environment. Maker culture emphasizes informal, networked, peer-led, and shared learning motivated by fun and self-fulfillment. The spaces allow like-minded individuals to share ideas, tools, and skills.
At West Genesee we have a number of Maker initiatives already in action including a robust robotics program at West Genesee Middle School. In addition to robotics and coding, students will have the opportunity to Make in the digital space, with such initiatives as MinecraftEDU and digital publishing.
