Elementary School

WEB bASED Instructional Resources
  • BrainPOP Jr. (K-2), BrainPOP (3-5) - BrainPOP creates animated, curriculum-based content that engages students, supports educators, and bolsters achievement. All are supported by BrainPop Educators, the teacher community now more than 100,000 members strong and featuring free lesson plans, video tutorials, professional development tools, graphic organizers, best practices, and much more.
  • edHelper  - provides printable worksheets for teachers
  • Edmodo - secure social network for classroom use and teacher professional development.  Collaborate with this tool to share content and ideas, and to access announcements and grades.  Edmodo can be accessed online or through a portable device.  Increase communication by using this tool with your students or with other fellow teachers.
  • Enchanted Learning - produces K-12 educational material that is published online. Over 30,000 pages are available covering a wide range of topics.
  • Ensemble  - Created by developers at Syracuse University, Ensemble video is an exciting new educational resource that allows students and teachers to upload video content to share with the school community or the world. Often dubbed the YouTube for Institutions, Ensemble is a protected, secure, and robust platform that accommodates a variety of video formats, and streams content from a centralized server housed at the CNYRIC.
  • FAST - comprehensive assessment system with both Curriculum-Based Measures (CBM) and Computer-Adaptive Tests (CAT) to screen, diagnose, monitor and inform instruction faster
  • mediaCONNECT - collections of physical and streamed media from a variety of resources, access to Learn 360, VITAL, Soundzabout and other collections of streamed video. Educators may also  borrow physical media such as DVDs, VHS tapes, audio books, photo collections, sheet music, and much more!
  • Raz-Kids - online leveled books and reading quizzes that give educators choices. Students listen to books read aloud, read with vocabulary and pronunciation support, and read without support. They read freely in the bookroom. Or, teachers easily limit students to appropriate reading levels and specific book and track student reading progress. Students can practice reading to improve reading comprehension and reading fluency anywhere with internet access.
  • Reading A-Z - offers thousands of printable teacher materials to teach leveled reading, phonemic awareness, reading comprehension, reading fluency, alphabet, and vocabulary. The teaching resources include professionally developed downloadable leveled books, lesson plans, worksheets, and reading assessments.
  • Reading Eggs -  web-based instruction where children can learn to read. It supports each child's learning by offering individual, one-on-one lessons that allow children to progress at their own rate. Currently used in the Kindergarten classrooms.
  • SchoolTool  - web-based student information system
  • Study Island - web-based instruction, practice, assessment and reporting system built from New York State's standards. It contains rigorous academic content that is both fun, engaging and easy to use. Because it is web-based it is easily accessible at home also. The user-friendly interface allows students to move through the program step-by-step. Each section has a pre-test and a post-test, as well as topics that cover each of the standards outlined in the Learning Standards. Topics consist of questions, answers, explanations, and lessons that address specific skills required in order to master the NYS Learning Standards.
