May

-Clara Liddell  -

Clara Liddell is the daughter of Beverly and Brian and the stepdaughter of David.  She has one younger sister, one younger step-sister and two younger step-brothers who all attend Tully Central School District.  

Clara enjoys the high-level of thinking that she gets to use in advanced courses.  Upon graduation she will have completed five Advanced Placement courses, one OCC course, three SUPA courses, and many other advanced courses.  Clara has been a member of the high honor roll every marking period of high school.  She is also a member of the National Honor Society.  

Clara is active in the music program, playing cello in the symphony, singing in the concert choir, performing in three school musicals, and playing baritone in the marching band which has won two state championships.  She is also a member of the Class of 2017 Senate as well as the Gay-Straight Alliance.  Clara enjoys helping other students through peer tutoring.  Outside of school, Clara is involved in the Life Teen Program at Holy Family Catholic Church.  She enjoys spending time outdoors and volunteering at Orenda Springs Experiential Learning Center.  

Clara plans to attend the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry from which she has received the Presidential Scholarship.  She will be majoring in Wildlife Science. 

-Brian Salmons  -

Brian Salmons is the son of Linda and Steven Salmons.  He has a younger brother, Chase, who is in 9th grade at West Genesee High School.  

Brian enjoys participating in a lot of activities in school.  He has challenged himself with advance chemistry, math analysis, along with four OCC courses and one SUPA course.  He has been inducted into National Honor Society and is NOCTI certified.  Brian is also a National Grid Engineering Pipeline Scholar.  

Brian was the captain on the Swim Team and participated at the state meet.  Brian is now part of the Unified Sports Basketball Team.  He also attended Boys State New York last summer.  Outside of school, Brian is an Eagle Scout and enjoys participating in Boy Scouts, Lifeguarding, and volunteering his time to Challenger Baseball.  

Brian plans on majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Clarkson University.

April

-Camryn Mulpagano -

Camryn Mulpagano is the daughter of Edward and Robin Mulpagano.  She has an older brother, Nicholas, who graduated from West Genesee in 2014.  

Camryn enjoys challenging herself in school with several advanced math and science courses such as Advanced Chemistry, AP Biology, and OCC Calculus. She has been a part of the Student Senate for three years and was inducted into the National Honor Society during her junior year of high school. Camryn has maintained high honor roll throughout every semester of her high school career.  She has also participated in multiple extracurricular activities during her time at West Genesee. Camryn has been a member of the West Genesee Color Guard and rifle line for four years and has won two state championships along with one national title. Since the young age of three she has acquired a strong passion for dancing.  She has been on the dance line for every West Genesee High School musical since her freshman year while also taking on the responsibility of dance captain. Camryn dances at The Movement Box Dance Studio outside of school as well as Dance Ensemble at West Genesee. She has choreographed several pieces for school events such as dance recitals, the pep rally for homecoming, and the Mr.  & Ms. West Genesee pageant. She was awarded Dancer of the Month by the West Genesee Dance Program and also was nominated Best Dancer by her peers for senior superlatives. Camryn also has a passion for singing.  She made the West Genesee Chorale for sophomore year of high school. This group traveled to Boston, Ithaca, and most recently performed at the NYSSMA conference in Rochester.  

Camryn was accepted early decision to Hobart and William Smith Colleges and granted the Trustee Scholarship for Academic Excellence. She will major in chemistry with a minor in dance.    

-Joe Gauzza-

Joe Gauzza is the son of Julia and Michael Gauzza. He has an older sister, Loren, who graduated from West Genesee High School in 2011.  

By taking multiple advanced classes and participating in extracurricular activities, Joe has enhanced both his intelligence and character throughout his four years at West Genesee High School.  Joe has maintained high honor roll in every marking period of high school and is a member of the National Honor Society.  Additionally, Joe participated in and graduated from Boy's State in June 2016.  

Joe is a member of Student Council, the boys' soccer team, Chorale, and was a lead in the school's production of Mary Poppins. Outside of school, Joe plays club soccer for Syracuse Developmental Academy (SDA) and practices music in his free time.  

Joe plans on attending college to study education and history.

March

-Emily Cox-

Emily Cox is the daughter of Edward and Danielle Cox.  She has two younger sisters, Alison and Olivia, who are also students in the West Genesee School District.  

Emily has always challenged herself in school by taking enriched courses, college courses, and many electives.  Upon graduation she will have completed two SUNY Oswego courses, two SUPA courses, and one AP course. She is a part of both National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society for her academic achievements. Emily has taken a wide range of electives; art courses like Studio Art, Photography, and Ceramics; business courses like Word Processing, and Career and Financial Management 1 & 11; and health and sciences courses like Psychology and Anatomy/Physiology.  

Emily is a part of Spanish Club, GSA, ECOS Club and Current Events Club. She participates on multiple varsity sports teams like West Genesee Swimming and Skaneateles Hockey, and will join Track and Field this spring. This year her hockey team had a 19-0 season and won the State Championship.  

Emily plans on attending a four year college and major in Education or Geology.

-Jesse Elmer-

Jesse Elmer is the son of Julie Daughton and Randy Elmer, PhD. He has an older sister who also went to the West Genesee School District.  

Jesse challenges himself in school with many advanced classes.  Upon graduation he will have completed four AP courses, two OCC courses, three SUPA courses, and a course from SUNY Oswego.  

Jesse was named AP Scholar with Distinction. He will receive a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and Mastery in Mathematics and Science.  Jesse is the President of ECOS club and a member of Student Senate and Model U.N.  Outside of school Jesse enjoys swimming. He hopes to leave a legacy of environmentalism in the West Genesee Central School District.  

Jesse plans on attending a four year school to major in Archaeology. His role models include Chance the Rapper, Abraham Lincoln, Leonardo DeCaprio, Mr. Robert Marks, and Mrs. Rebecca DeCesare.  

Emily plans on attending a four year college and major in Education or Geology.

February

-Elizabeth "Betty" Jones-

 Elizabeth "Betty" Jones is the daughter of Herbert S. Jones III and Barbara Jones.  Her older brother Herbie, a graduate from WGHS, is a junior at Clarkson University.

Betty likes to keep herself busy during school.  In doing so, she has taken several advanced and college-level courses.  Betty has made honor roll for four years and is a member of the National Honor Society.  She plays the trumpet in symphonic band and has been a four-year member of the high school musical tech crew.  She is co-president of GSA and competes as a member of Varsity Track & Field in the shot put event.  She also participated in Math League and freshmen and JV lacrosse.

Betty has taken dance classes at Camillus Dance Centre since she was three years old.  She earned her second degree black belt in Traditional Okinawan Martial Arts, played defense in ice hockey for CYHA for over ten years and is a certified camp counselor at Camp Talooli.  She works at the Inn Between restaurant, loves animals, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

After graduation, Betty will be attending Daemen College in Buffalo to study for an M.S. degree in athletic training.

-Matthew Hotaling-

Matthew is the son of Lori and Glenn Hotaling. He has an older brother and sister who both graduated from West Genesee.

Matt enjoys challenging himself in school. He has taken many advanced courses including five OCC courses, 3 AP courses, one SUPA  course, one SUNY Oswego course and various other advanced courses. Matt will be completing a CTE endorsement in engineering and he has been inducted into the National Honor Society.

Outside of school, Matthew enjoys swimming with the varsity swim and Camillus Swim Club. He has also been part of the marching band’s Drumline for all four of his high school years.

Matt has enrolled at R.I.T. to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He plans to find a career in motorsport engineering.

-Tyler Troch-Stirpe -

Tyler is the son of David Troch and Tina Stirpe.  He has a younger sister who attends WGMS and two older brothers.  

Tyler enjoys challenging himself in school with several advanced courses. Upon graduation, he will have completed three Advanced Placement courses, three OCC courses, one SUPA course, a course from SUNY Oswego, as well as other advanced courses. 

Tyler has been on high honor roll every marking period of high school.  He is NOCTI certified in engineering technology. Tyler has also been inducted into the National Honor Society. Tyler is a Senator for the class of 2017.  He was also recently elected as the Treasurer of the defending state champion Academic Decathlon team.  Outside of school, Tyler enjoys playing basketball, landscaping, and helping family members.  

Tyler plans on attending a four year college and major in Engineering.

-Gabriella Gongora -

-Russell Graziano-

 Russell is the son of Mary and Joseph Graziano.  He has a younger sister who is also a student at West Genesee High School.

Russell enjoys challenging himself in school with many advanced courses. Upon graduation, he will have completed three Advanced Placement courses, three OCC courses, two SUPA courses, one course from SUNY Oswego, and many other advanced courses. Russell has been on the high honor roll every marking period of high school and he has been inducted into the National Honor Society.

Russell is a Class Counselor for the Class of 2017 and is a member of the Math Team. He also participates in Model United Nations and was a member of the Economics and Finance Club in its only year of existence. Russell has played trombone in the Jazz Band throughout all four years of high school.  He was selected for the Onondaga County High School All-County Band twice. Russell also runs for the cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track teams.

Russell plans to attend a four-year college and major in one of the branches of engineering.  

November

-Amanda Ponza-

Amanda is the daughter of Robert and Rebecca Ponza. She has an older sister who is currently a senior in college.  

Amanda enjoys challenging herself academically. She has taken many advanced and college level classes and a wide variety of academic and fine art electives. Amanda has been on the high honor roll every marking period and  was inducted into the National Honor Society last spring.  

Amanda is a member of the class Senate and sings in Chorale and the Girls Fermata Nowhere acapella group. She also participates in school musicals, is a member of the colorguard in the Marching Band, and takes dance classes at Camillus Dance Centre.  

Amanda plans to attend a four year college and study engineering or a science and math based major. 

-William O'Brien-

Billy is the son of Steve and Patty O'Brien. He has a younger sister, Katie, who is a junior at West Genesee.  

He is NOCTI certified in Engineering and is a member of the National Honor Society. 

Billy has been a member of high honor roll every marking period of high school. Billy is a member of the varsity soccer and baseball teams. Outside of school he referees CYBA basketball and assists with youth baseball.

-David Leff-

David Leff is the son of Fred and Grace Leff. He has an older brother and sister both who graduated from West Genesee.

David is taking many college level and weighted classes.  He received the AP Scholar with Honors award. David is a participant in the National Honor Society. He also has been on the High Honor Roll every semester in high school.

David is the captain of the cross country team which has attended multiple state championships.

David plans on attending college to study engineering.
