Camillus Optimist Speech Winners Share “Where Are My Roots of Optimism”

On January 29, twelve students gave speeches around the theme, “Where Are My Roots of Optimism” to members of the Camillus Optimist Club.  The Optimists chose Logan Battaglia and Sean Alvaro from CMS to represent them at the next level of the 2018 Oratorical Contest that will be held in April in Albany, NY.

Earning second place at the club contest were Greta Hahn from the high school and Daniel McManus from West Genesee Middle School. They will each be an alternate for the girls and boys, respectively, at the next level.

Also competing were Janaya Jones and Liam O’Connor from CMS; Julia Biggs and Kelly McManus from WGMS; and Clara Council, Julian Florencio-Jackson, Emily Schlenker, and Paul Stannard from the high school.

English teachers Ellen Miller, Stephanie Murphy, Kate Parry, and Rebecca Tanchak coached the students from CMS; Stacey Sommer and Melissa Smith from WGMS; and Suzanne Ostrander coordinated the students from the high school.
