Academic Decathlon Team Wins and Will Compete at State Level

The Academic Decathlon was held at Westhill High School on January 23 with competitors from Cazenovia, Liverpool, Tully, Westhill, and West Genesee high schools.

The team from West Genesee High School came in first overall. They brought home a total of 24 medals from the whole competition (12 Gold, 6 Silver and 6 Bronze). The top three teams will advance to the state competition at SUNY Brockport to be held on February 26-27. more

Camillus Optimist Speech Contest

On January 26, twelve students gave speeches around the theme, "How My Best Brings Out the Best in Others" to members of the Camillus Optimist Club.

The Optimists chose Greta Hahn from the high school and Eric Leubner from CMS to represent them at the next level of the 2016 Oratorical Contest that will be held on April 9 in Albany, NY.

Earning second place at the club contest were Katherine Baldwin from the high school and Joseph McManus from WGMS. They will be alternates for the contest.  more

Community Forum and Expo on Substance Abuse is Well Attended

On Thursday, January 21, West Genesee High School hosted a Community Forum on Substance Abuse and Expo.

Presenters told stories of tragedy, loss, pain, hope, and treatment so eloquently that each main presenter received a well deserved standing ovation. Each story began with how a supportive family and money still led to alcohol, pill, and heroin abuse, and how quickly it can happen.

Kindergarten Registration is Different this Year

Kindergarten Registration for the 2016-2017 school year will be held this year from February 1 to March 4 at the Central Registrar Office located at 300 Sanderson Drive, Camillus, NY 13031.

Once Upon a Mattress at the High School 

West Genesee High School students will present the musical Once Upon a Mattress, at the high school auditorium on February 4-5 at 7:00 p.m. and February 6 at 2:00 p.m. Seats for all three shows are reserved and are $12 each.

West Genesee Artists Recognized at Scholastic Art Competition  

On January 14, it was announced that twelve WGHS photography and ceramics students won recognition at the 2016 Scholastic Art competition. The table below is a summary of the awards received.  

Their work will be displayed in the main lobby of the Whitney Applied Technology Center at Onondaga Community College January 15 through February 26, 2016.

Dismissal Information for Half-Day

Friday, January 29 is a half-day for students who will attend in the morning.

Dismissal hours for the buildings on those days will be as follows:

  • High School: 9:55 a.m.

  • CMS/WGMS: 10:10 a.m.

  • All Elementary Buildings:  11:30 a.m.

Registering for Spring Sports is Now Online!

The Athletics Department is excited to announce that they are now offering the convenience of online registration for athletic sports sign up and clearance through Family ID. 

The registration link will go live for input on February 7, 2016.

This program is replacing the current paper process. You will no longer need to submit paper work to the nurse or athletic office. Everything will be completed online. Click here for more information.
