The Top Ten students of the West Genesee
High School Class of 2017 were announced
on February 16, 2017. To view the list

Merit Finalists are Announced
Seniors Amanda Lowther and Russell
Graziano who were named Semi-Finalists
earlier this year, have now been
named Finalists in the 2017 National
Merit Scholarship Program.
The winners will be announced later this
that time we will give an update.
Scientists Showcase their Projects at
Forty-nine students created 32 exhibits
that were entered for judging in the
Camillus Middle School Science Fair on
Science teacher Jacqueline Mills
coordinated the fair. A variety of
projects representing multiple branches
of science were on display.
Each project was judged on the
utilization of the scientific method,
oral presentation, written presentation
and the overall exhibit layout. more

Kindergarten Registration is Ending Soon
Registration for the 2017-2018 school
year will continue until March 3 at the
Central Registrar Office, located at 300
Sanderson Drive, Camillus, NY 13031.

When registering, parents should bring:
proof of immunizations, proof of age,
and proof of residency. A physical
examination is also required and a
dental certificate is requested for
entry into kindergarten.
These examinations should be done up to
one year prior to the first day of
school. Children who enter kindergarten
this fall must be five years of age on
or before December 1, 2017.

9th Annual Culture Fair
The 9th Annual Culture Fair will be held at West
High School on Saturday, March 4, from 12:00
p.m. -3:00 p.m. in the upper gym.
This is a fantastic family event for all ages
that is free and open to the public, and is
designed to help promote understanding of the
various social, ethnic, and cultural influences
in our very own community and beyond.
A variety of cultural and ethnic displays,
artifacts, and presentations will be available,
along with live dancing, music, food tasting,
kids arts and crafts, and T-Shirts (can be
purchased for $5.00 in the high school main
office before or on the day of the event).

Community Forum on Substance Abuse
The Camillus Community Coalition on
Substance Abuse is hosting a
resource night for anyone interested
in learning more information and
working with local agencies on the
Heroin and Opiod crisis facing our
Camillus Police Department will also be
collecting any unused, or expired
medication for safe disposal.
It is being held on Monday, February 27,
at West Genesee High School from
Christie Casciano (Veteran Anchor at
News Channel 9) will be the key note
speaker. Other Presenters will include
Dr. Ross Sullivan (Update University
Hospital), Beth Hurny (Executive
Director at Prevention Network), and
Nate C. (Guest Speaker).
Admission is free to the public along
with free child care.
