Swimmers are Academic All-Americans

Seven West Genesee High School athletes qualified for the Academic All-American honor from the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA): Kaitlin Dunning, Rebecca Kanoza, Jack Barrett, Daniel Pesci, Colin Riley, Victoria Lee, and Emily Green.

To receive this honor, students must meet the following qualifications: A minimum GPA of 3.750 on a 4 point scale, or 93.7500% of the grade scale your school uses for 7 semesters (non-weighted); be a graduating senior; and to have lettered in their high school program in swimming, diving, or water polo in their senior year. Congratulations on this great accomplishment!

CMS Science Teacher to Attend NASA Space Camp

Camillus Middle School science teacher Carmen Primiano was accepted to attend Honeywell Educators at Space Academy (HESA) at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL, at the end of this June. He will be among over 200 teachers from around the world who will embark on the learning adventure of a lifetime.

When they have completed the weeklong program, they will share techniques to encourage students to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) careers and creative ways to bring lessons learned at Space Academy into the classroom.

Each teacher will go through real-life astronaut training, including a high-performance jet simulation, scenario-based space missions, land and water survival training, and a state-of-the-art flight dynamics program.

Pictured above from left to right are former West Genesee Central School District teacher Rick Chapman, HESA 2007; Brian Ramsden, HESA 2013; Carmen Primiano, HESA 2016; and retired teacher Sue Potrikus, HESA 2009.

Kindergarten Screening Information

On Friday, June 24, all schools in the West Genesee Central School District will be closed due to a snow give back day. There were families of incoming Kindergarten students that signed up for screening on that day.

However, because the buildings will not be open, we have had to reschedule screening for those families.

If you have not yet rescheduled, please call the Registrarís Office at (315) 487-4683 as soon as possible to set up a new date and time.

Central Registration will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the summer starting June 27. The central registration office will be closed on July 5 -6.

Due to renovations being done during the summer, all Kindergarten screening will be done at Stonehedge. Click here for school specific screening date information
