WGHS Seniors are National Merit Semi-Finalists

West Genesee High School seniors Amanda Lowther and Russell Graziano (pictured above) have been named Semi-Finalists in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.

These students are among 34,000 of over a million students who entered the Merit Program by earning high scores on the Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT) taken in October of their junior year. Only 16,000 students are semi-finalists. Scholarships awarded through National Merit Scholarship Corporation programs are regarded as a high academic honor.

The students and their parents will be recognized at the Board of Education meeting on November 2, where they will receive letters of commendation from Board President Roberta Herron, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Christopher Brown, and Executive Principal Geoffrey Morton.   MORE

New Administrators at the High School

Thomas (TJ) Vaughan, Jr. was appointed by the Board of Education on September 7, 2016 as a principal at the high school assigned to work with 12th grade.

On July 6, 2016, Tracy Klefbeck was appointed by the Board of Education as an administrative intern at the high school assigned to work with the 10th grade. MORE

The 18th Annual Race for Respect is Almost Here...

Join us for the 18th (and final) annual Race For Respect on Sunday, September 25, at West Genesee High School starting at noon. Race registration takes place every day in each school or download a registration form here.

Participants can also register the day of the race just look for the registration table right in front of the high school! Students and families may pre-register at their respective schools until September 21, 2016. Fees are $5 pre-registration and $7 race day registration. A race T-shirt is provided while supplies last.  MORE

Ten West Genesee High School musicians were accepted into, or as alternates, to the All-State Conference to perform in Rochester, December 1-4, 2016.

West Genesee Communications are Honored 

West Genesee Central School District is is being recognized by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) in the Social Networking categories of their 2016 Publications and Electronic Media Awards program.

Notes from the Superintendent is being recognized with an honorable mention. The levels of recognition awarded are excellence, merit, and honorable mention.

Also, the New York School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA) recently awarded West Genesee with an Award of Honor for the Notes from the Superintendent blog. Congratulations!
