WGHS Business Students Inducted into Honor Society

Nineteen West Genesee High School students were inducted into the Business and Marketing Honor Society in coordination with the Business Teachers Association of NYS (BTANYS) on October 16.

Students must have an 80 average or better overall and an 88 or better in their business classes. Underclassmen must have completed two business credits by the end of the current year and plan to complete a third by end of senior year (seniors must have completed three credits).

The inductees are pictured above. In the front row from left to right are Ryan Segar, Devryn Rikhoff, Dan LaVine, Karsyn Plis, Haley Elsey, Kyle Petersen, Maggie Cunningham, Phoebe Nelson, John Bergan, and Jack McManus. In the back from from left to right are Liam Barry, Jack Corcoran, Ryan Gentilcore, James LaValle, John Galimi, James Dussing, and Alexandra Ciarla. CMS PresenterMiddle School Students Hear About Career Options

The eighth-grade Career and Financial Management (CFM) classes at Camillus and West Genesee Middle Schools have guest speakers visit throughout the semester. The speakers expose the students to various career options within the 16 career clusters.

This month, Claire Payne from the Central New York Area Health Education Center shared with the students the wide variety of health career options. There are many fast growing, stable, high paying and rewarding health career choices available to students today.

The students signed up to explore the www.hwcareers.org website and take the interest profile. Students can also sign up for various health career camps. Check out the CNYAHEC link at: cnyahec.com/.

West Genesee Athletic Community Receives Sportsmanship Promotion Award Again

On September 28, West Genesee received the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Section III 2016-2017 Sportsmanship Promotion Award. This is the third time being honored.

The award is presented to schools which have developed proactive approaches in keeping sportsmanship in the forefront with their students, coaches, spectators, and communities.
