Go Blue for National Child Abuse Prevention Month

The last few weeks you may have noticed pinwheels in front of all the buildings throughout the District in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention month.

We partnered with the McMahon/Ryan Child Advocacy Centers "Go Blue 4 Kids" campaign. Students raised money for the pinwheels and the money they have donated to the advocacy center will be used right here in central New York for victims of child sexual and physical abuse.

Dr. Brown shared in his blog, " I applaud and appreciate the efforts of our Parent Teacher Associations/Organizations, as well as our students and staff." Thank you to everyone who participated!

West Genesee Students Excel at Central New York Science and Engineering Fair

On March 26, students from Camillus Middle, West Genesee Middle School, and the high school competed in the Central New York Science and Engineering Fair sponsored by the MOST and Lockheed Martin. 

Over 250 students participated this year and each student utilized their own school projects from science fairs held earlier in the year. Awards were given at honors, high honors, and highest honors levels. In addition, there were special awards given by local businesses, professional societies, and educational organizations judged by a set of specified criteria.

Kaleidoscope 42 Tickets are on Sale

The 42nd Annual Kaleidoscope concert will take place in the Mulroy Civic Center at OnCenter on Thursday evening, May 25.

Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the High School Main Office, Fine Arts Office, at all May HS Concerts, the War Memorial Box Office or on (search Kaleidoscope).  All seats are $10 and are general admission. more

No Additional Days Off Because of Snow Days

Superintendent, Dr. Christopher Brown, shares that as we used five snow days this year, so we will not have any extra snow give-back days.

Budget Presentation Scheduled

Superintendent, Dr. Christopher Brown, will be giving a visual presentation to explain the proposed 2017-2018 school budget.

May 3 - Budget Public Hearing - 7:00 p.m. at the High School Library

West Genesee Students Participate in Unified Sports Basketball

On April 27, West Genesee hosted and participated in the Section III Unified Sports Basketball kick-off scrimmage tournament along with teams from Baldwinsville, East Syracuse-Minoa, Fayetteville-Manlius, Fulton, and Liverpool High Schools. 

Section III Athletics has partnered with the New York State Public High School Athletic Association and Special Olympics New York to offer the opportunity to high school students in Central New York. The partnership "seeks to bring together students with and without intellectual disabilities for the opportunity to compete on one team," according to a Section III press release.

This event opened the season with games beginning next week after two months of schools participating in practices and games. The final event will be on May 22.

Participating on the West Genesee team coached by high school teacher Scott Duda were: Khrystyna Andrushkiv, Joseph Artini, Arcela Balungaya, Samuel Colabufo, Devin Doughty, Rayanna Doughty, Jeremy Fanelli, Helene Ferner, Jeremiah Hart-Zavolli, Allison Harris, John Hawley, Josh Killings, Thomas Moriarty, Cameron Miller, Brian Salmons, Chase Salmons, Logan Smitch Paczos, and Ryan Washo.
