Dear CMS Families,
 

The waning days of summer are certainly upon us. The sunflowers are in full-bloom, and very soon the Ferris wheel will rise above the New York State Fairgrounds.  We hope the summer has provided you with an opportunity for rest and relaxation.  We are eagerly awaiting the return of our students; the building is simply not the same without their energy. 

 

Our teachers have been busy this summer attending workshops, taking courses and examining data from the New York State Testing Program. We have some exciting news to share with you regarding the communication and accessibility of your child’s grades. For many years we have used an electronic grading system known as MyGradeBook (MGB). We have recently decided to make grades available using the Internet and a secure password which will be assigned to each student and their parents/guardians. Parents and students will now have the ability to check academic progress at any time throughout the school year. Although we will continue to provide paper copies of both interim (5 week progress reports) and report cards (every 10 weeks), we encourage you and your child to routinely monitor MGB. Households without Internet access may request a printed progress report at anytime by calling the Guidance Office. We believe that this tool will assist students in monitoring their academic progress as well as help build responsibility for the completion of assignments. Passwords and directions for accessing the MGB site will be mailed home on September 17^th. 

 

We are happy to welcome several new faces to the CMS school community. Our new school nurse is Martha Lewis who comes to us from the North Syracuse School District. Our new art teacher is Jackie Sullivan and our technology teacher is Dale Keida who will split his time between CMS and WGMS. Miss Kristina Vernyi will be joining us in the Main Office as an administrative intern for the first semester.
