SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Superintendent, David Bills, opened his remarks with an update on the immunization laws and the families that have been impacted. He went on to give an overview of the recent Fire Inspection. He also spoke about the 2019 Homecoming, his “Talk with the Superintendent” that was sponsored by the PTA/PTOs, and closed with comments about his tour of Camillus Parks and Recreation.

STUDY SESSION TOPICS

Independent Audit Overview – Insero & Company, CPA’s – Jerry Mickelson gave an overview of the June 30, 2019, financial reports. He noted that the financial results fell within the financial plan of the district. Shawn Mitchell thanked the staff for their efforts in managing the District finances with so many financial resource restrictions. Paul Pelton closed by thanking all of the building administration and staff for their hard work in planning. He gave special thanks to the Business Office staff for their efforts.

It is recommended that the Board of Education accept the audit report for the financial records of the West Genesee Central School District for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019, as prepared by the accounting firm of Insero & Company, CPA’s, as well as the associated corrective action plan.

Shawn Mitchell spoke of the vacant Board Member seat for the Onondaga-Madison School Boards Association, which is a two-year term expiring December 31, 2021. There are several options to discuss. The decision will be voted on at the October 16, 2019, Board of Education meeting.

Barbara Wells spoke of the Tournament of Bands, and especially the efforts of the staff adapting to the weather.
