SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Interim Superintendent Michael Schiedo opened his remarks with a warm welcome for our next Superintendent, David Bills, who will begin service on September 1, 2019. Mr. Schiedo added that hiring for the High School Executive Principal position is in process. He commented on the law recently signed by the governor eliminating religious exemption for certain immunizations. He also noted that West Genesee High School has been recognized as a Recognition School for the 2017-18 school year, due to high academic achievement and graduation rates, and congratulated the entire West Genesee High School staff. He then thanked Board of Education President, Roberta Herron, and Member, Eric Bacon, for their unwavering dedication on the Board of Education and presented them with plaques commemorating the end of their service. Mr. Schiedo ended his comments by pointing out that the last two days of school for students are June 24 and 25, 2019, being half days. June 26, 2019, will be a Superintendent’s conference day for staff.

Lori Keevil recognized Sandra Sherlock’s 14 years of service to the West Genesee Central School District as Sandi prepares for retirement. Sandi spent her time at West Genesee in the Stonehedge-Blue Elementary School, where she was instrumental in the elementary reading initiative, supporting this endeavor with research, increased knowledge, and leadership. Her drive and desire to support our youngest learners will be missed. Best wishes to her in retirement.

Lori Keevil also spoke of Sandra Kasouf, whose retirement comes after 25 years with the West Genesee Central School District, where she has served as the lead secretary in the Stonehedge Blue Team Main Office. Sandy is supportive of students, staff, and families. Sandy’s friendship will be missed as much as she will miss the students and staff. Lori extended sentiments of gratitude from the Stonehedge Community, and wished her health and happiness in retirement.
