The meeting was called to order by President Roberta Herron at 7:00 p.m.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

President Herron led the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

The Superintendent opened his remarks by congratulating the Marching Band on their first early season victory. He also spoke about his most recent observations and visits. He then mentioned the Sports Boosters Golf Tournament and finished by talking about turning the corner on the school year and heading into the rest of the school year.

It is recommended that the minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 5, 2018, be approved.

STUDY SESSION TOPICS

K – 12 Instructional Technology Plan – William Roberge, Rob Leo, and Barb Ritch updated the Board of Education on the status of the District’s technology initiatives. Then they reviewed the Phase II Smart Schools Investment Plan. Barb Ritch concluded by talking about the student coding project.

It is recommended that the Ice Rental Lease Agreement between the West Genesee Central School District and the Town of Camillus for the use of the Shove Park Ice Rink by our hockey team for the 2018-19 school year be approved, as stipulated.

Note: The Town of Camillus waives any charge for the use of the facility by our hockey team.

It is recommended that the Board of Education accept a donation from Andrew LaRocca, of 146 View Point Lane, Camillus, NY 13031, for the purchase of an additional Buddy Bench at Stonehedge Elementary School in the amount of $910.48, and it is further recommended that the 2018-19 general fund budget be amended as follows to reflect said donations:

Claims Audit Sub-Committee – Joseph Simon reported that the next meeting will be on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

Audit Committee – Paul Pelton noted that the next meeting will be on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, with Jerry Michelson.

Policies and Bylaws Committee – Neil Widrick stated that the committee met tonight and reviewed the 0000’s, 1000’s, and the 2000’s. The next meeting will be Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at 6:15 p.m.

Teaching Center – Brian Kesel mentioned that the next meeting is on Monday, October 1, 2018.

Parent Curriculum Information Council – Vladimiro Hart-Zavoli reported that the next meeting is Tuesday, October 9, 2018

Ad Hoc Employee Benefits Committee – Neil Widrick shared that the next meeting will be Monday, October 15, 2018

SEPTSA – Vladimiro Hart-Zavoli noted that SEPTSA was meeting this evening.

OPEN FORUM

Barbara Wells noted that the Onondaga Road Elementary School playground enhancements are terrific.

Shawn Mitchell noted that the Sports Boosters Golf Tournament was outstanding.

Erica Henson, 4217 Milton Avenue, Camillus, NY 13031, thanked Dr. Brown for recognizing the Band and noted the kids are working very hard. She also thanked the Board of Education for staying below the tax cap. She went on to thank everyone for a smooth start to the year, and concluded with her concerns about the fights at the High School and questioned what the consequences are.

Beth Stewart spoke again of all who contributed to the Sports Boosters Golf Tournament.

Bill Davern spoke of the United States District Court of the Northern District of New York Naturalization Ceremony that took place on September 17, 2018. He noted that the West Genesee High School Chorale students involved were extremely excited to be part of the event.
