The meeting was called to order by President Roberta Herron at 7:00 p.m.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

The Superintendent opened his remarks by welcoming everyone to the New Year. He then thanked the Technology staff for their work in fixing a major technology problem earlier in the week. He also congratulated the fifty-one Scholastic Art Competition winners. Then he made mention of the Governor’s State of the State Address and finished with an invitation to the Dialogue with the Superintendent that will take place on January 10, 2018.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

It is recommended that the minutes of the Regular Meeting of December
20, 2017, be approved.

STUDY SESSION TOPICS
Summer Work Camp presentation – Sam Dance introduced Cindy Kissane, Reverend Bob Langston, Claire Wenner, and Parker Ventura, who gave an overview of the program that will operate out of West Genesee High School this summer. Claire and Parker briefly described how the program works and the types of activities and projects they will engage in. The group of approximately 400 students will do work projects throughout the community. Rev. Langston wrapped up the presentation with some financial and logistical information.

Policies presentation (1st Vote 1/17/18 and 2nd Vote 2/7/18) – Neil Widrick briefly summarized the changes made to the Board of Education Policy #4320 – Medicaid Compliance, and the Board of Education Policy #4321 – Programs for Students with Disabilities, to align the District with State and Federal regulations.

CURRICULUM ACTION ITEMS

L. Motion: Kimberly Sacco
It is recommended that the Board of Education of the West Genesee
Central School District accept the recommendations of the CPSE Review
Meeting Dates of November 16, 30, and December 20, 2017; and CSE
Review Meeting dates of December 12, 18, and 19, 2017; and Building
Level Review dates of December 13, and 20, 2017; thereby agreeing to
make necessary arrangements for program implementation.

Shawn Mitchell commented on the art awards that were won by West Genesee students. He commended the West Genesee Fine Arts staff.
