The meeting was called to order by President Roberta Herron at 7:00 p.m.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

The Superintendent opened his report by complementing the many people who have attended open houses, marching band shows, and athletic events. He then spoke briefly about budget forecasting and upcoming initiatives for the fall.

OPEN FORUM

Geoffrey Morton recognized Terry Moore and her fifteen years of service to the West Genesee
Central School District as he acknowledged her retirement.

STUDY SESSION TOPIC

Strategic Planning – Call for Commentary Process – Dr. Brown opened the presentation and introduced Thought Exchange. He then turned the presentation over to Todd Freeman. Mr. Freeman introduced Amy Pol from Thought Exchange, who demonstrated the new way the Strategic Planning team will collect calls for commentary from District stakeholders.

It is recommended that the Ice Rental Lease Agreement between the
West Genesee Central School District and the Town of Camillus for the
use of the Shove Park Ice Rink by our hockey team for the 2017-18 school year be approved, as stipulated.
Note: The Town of Camillus waives any charge for the use of the facility by our hockey team.

It is recommended that the 2017-18 tax adjustments for the Town of
Geddes be approved, as stipulated; and it is further recommended that

2017.

CURRICULUM ACTION ITEMS

It is recommended that the Board of Education of the West Genesee
Central School District accept the recommendations, CPSE Review
Meeting dates of September 6, and 12, 2017; and CSE Review Meeting dates of August 30, 31, September 4, 5, 6, 8, 11, and 12, 2017; thereby
agreeing to make necessary arrangements for program implementation.

Claims Audit Sub-Committee – Joseph Simon reported that the next meeting will be on October
18, 2017.

Audit Committee – Roberta Herron shared that Jerry Mickelson will present at the next meeting on October 4, 2017.

REPORTS

Policies and Bylaws Committee – Neil Widrick stated that the first meeting will be scheduled in
October.

Teaching Center – Karen Fruscello indicated that the District Council will meet on October 2,
2017.

Parent Curriculum Information Council – Vladimiro Hart-Zavoli noted that the first meeting is on
October 30, 2017

Ad Hoc Employee Benefits Committee – Neil Widrick reported that the date of the first meeting is yet to be determined. He also noted that he has assumed chairperson due to conflicts with Kimberly Sacco’s new job.

SEPTSA – Vladimiro Hart-Zavoli indicated that the next meeting is still to be determined.

OPEN FORUM

Eric Bacon thanked Mike Perkins for his role with the Cornell Summer Program. Eric also noted that the Town of Camillus has hired Ryan McShane to fill the vacancy left by Dave Vermilya.
He then stated that the Town of Camillus/West Genesee Community Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on October 28, 2017. He ended by mentioning that he attended the
Community Coalition on substance abuse last evening.

James Soper sat through the PTSA meeting and recommends all to get involved. Lisa Craig thanked James Dark for a smooth opening in transportation.
Erica Henson, of 4217 Milton Ave, Camillus, voiced concern about the length of time of the late bus runs, feeling that over an hour is too long. She also questioned her daughter’s High School run. Paul Pelton noted that after the High School bus stops at West Genesee Middle School before taking students home.

William Davern mentioned that the Marching Band is off to a strong start. The Tournament of
Bands is September 230, 2017. There are 18 bands participating.
