Use of Automated External Defibrillators
The West Genesee Central School District recognizes the need to make Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) available in its school buildings.
Therefore it is the policy of the Board of Education that the placement and use of AEDs be authorized within the West Genesee Central School District in accordance with Education Law Section 917 and the Public Access Defibrillation Law (Chapter 552 of the Laws of 1998). Individuals authorized to use the AED devices shall have current training and certification in CPR and the use of the AED from a recognized training agency. A collaborative agreement with a licensed physician shall be established to provide medical
oversight of the District’s Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) Program. The District shall, as required by the New York Department of Health, register its PAD Program with the Central New York Regional Emergency Services Council. Local emergency service providers shall be notified in writing of the location and use of AEDS within the District.
The District Superintendent shall develop regulations governing the use of the AEDs within the West Genesee Central School District. In addition to fulfilling regulatory requirements, the regulation will include a standardization clause. These regulations shall be incorporated into the West Genesee District-Wide Safety Plan.
