The District Optimist Oratorical Contest was held virtually this year, and the contest finished on Saturday, May 5. The theme this year is “Healing the World With Optimism”.
The first place winner is West Genesee High School sophomore Logan Battaglia who was sponsored by Camillus Optimist Club.
As the District first place winner she will receive a $2500 scholarship and move on to the Region/World Championship Contest to be held Virtually July 22 and July 23, 2021.

Camillus Optimist Speech Winners Share Speeches on “Healing the World With Optimism”
On March 24, four students from West Genesee High School gave speeches around the theme, “Healing the World With Optimism” to members of the Camillus Optimist Club.
The Optimists chose Logan Battaglia (1st) and Alexcis Rydelek (2nd) to represent them at the next level of the 2021 Oratorical Contest that will be held in April.
Janaya Jones and Lia Rice are runners up, in no particular order.
