Fall 2018 PTA Newsletter
Welcome to the 2018-19 school year!
It’s the most wonderful time of year for the East Hill Parent Teacher Association (EH PTA)! The beginning of the school year is an unofficial holiday season with new schedules, endless supplies, cool outfits, innovative lesson plans and fun activities. We kicked off the school year with our annual Ice Cream Social! Thank you to our ice cream social committee and volunteers for serving up some delicious ice cream treats! And, thank you for attending!
Also, thank you to everyone that signed up to help the PTA this year. If you’re helping in the classroom, baking a treat for one of the many events the PTA hosts, or simply an attendee, we thank you! Please email us at: email@example.com if you missed the volunteer sign up, or if you have any great ideas you’d like to share with your PTA.
To all our dedicated and passionate school leaders, teachers and PTA volunteers, thank you for all that you do every day for the children of your community and we wish you—and every student—the best school year ever!
The Fall Book Fair at East Hill Elementary has been scheduled for October 16th & 17th. The students will get to visit the Fair during school hours. We will also have a Family Night which will be held on Wednesday October 17th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Additional Volunteers Are Needed! If you are able and interested in working a shift, please contact Jamie Klaben at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your PTA Funds
The first month of school ended with our biggest fund raiser, the Jog-A-Thon! The weather was perfect and the kids had so much fun as family, friends, caregivers and the West Genesee Wild Cat mascot cheered them on. Your donations totaled approximately $9,200. Thank you to the committee and to everyone who supported this great event!
he funds raised by your PTA support the following social, community and educational programs the Ice Cream Social, Enrichment Day, Bingo Night, Staff Appreciation Week, Power Packs (food bags supplied over the weekend to WG students where each bag provides enough food that a child can easily assemble into meals, ensuring that children will have food over the weekend and return to school on Monday ready to learn), PARP, book fairs, classroom and specials grants, 5th Grade Graduation, and two college scholarships.
NYS PTA and EH PTA supports every child, with one voice and works toward making every child’s potential a reality! An East Hill PTA membership keeps you connected so you know what’s happening in your school, utilizing a network of parents and teachers to share ideas, concerns, and experiences. PTA members are advocates for the well-being of children and youth, and unit activities maintain this focus. For example, EH PTA sponsors the Ice Cream Social, Bingo Night, Enrichment Day, 5th-Grade Graduation, Community Giving, and a variety of classroom materials. Join or Renew your membership by October 17th and you’ll be entered into a drawing for either a Sky Zone family pack or a beautiful holiday Yankee Candle basket!
