When is Kaleidoscope?
This year, Kaleidoscope will take place on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the Crouse Hinds theatre in the Civic Center. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
What is Kaleidoscope?
Kaleidoscope is a concert featuring all of the curricular music groups as well as some auditioned small groups and solos. Each group will perform only one selection on the program. The evening will conclude with a finale including all of the West Genesee student musicians/dancers.
When do we leave school to rehearse?
Students are excused from classes at 12:15 p.m. to board school buses in the new, west, Applebees circle. They will be driven to and from the afternoon rehearsal by school bus. All students must eat lunch BEFORE we leave. No food or drink is allowed in the Civic Center. (If you have auditioned to a small group or solo spot you are excused at 9:00 a.m. Please bring money to buy lunch downtown. Advanced dance class is excused at 10:30 a.m. to eat lunch then depart.)
What should I bring to the rehearsal?
Students should bring homework, books to read, and personal entertainment for the long hours of rehearsal and waiting to perform.
What do I do if I am in more than one performing group?
Students involved in more than one performing group should report to the warm-up area of the ensemble that performs earliest on the program. When that performance is over, the student should immediately report to the warm-up area of the next ensemble they are involved with.
When do we get back to school?
Buses will return to West Genesee High School between 4:15-4:30 p.m. Please have rides home waiting at 4:15 p.m..
What do I have to wear?
Casual, school appropriate attire is allowed for the afternoon rehearsal. Full concert dress is required for the evening performance. Students must change to appropriate concert dress from instrumental music to choral music.
What time to I have to be back to the Civic Center?
All students must report back to the Civic Center at or before 6:45 p.m.
How do I get to the concert and home after the concert?
Students are responsible for their own rides to and from the evening performance.
Where do we go when we get to the Civic Center and parking?
Students who are based in the Civic Center should use the Artists’ Entrance. Students in the Basement of the War Memorial or War Memorial itself go directly to that area. Do the students get to watch the rest of the concert?
No, however, television monitors with audio are available to watch and listen to the concert from the warm-up room.
Is this concert part of my grade for the quarter?
Yes, it is. Just like all of our concerts. Concert participation is 25% of your grade for the quarter and is viewed the same as a quarterly unit test for grading purposes.
Is there an admission fee?
Yes, the cost will be $12.00 for all general admission seating. Tickets on sale now in the HS Fine Arts office, Main Office, Etix.com and the night of the show at the Civic Center box office.
How long will the concert be?
The concert usually lasts two hours
