October 16, 2019
Dear West Genesee Performing/Fine Arts Parents and Students,
The 45th annual West Genesee Fine Arts Citrus Sale will begin next week. This is the only fundraiser run by the entire department and benefits our students by paying for and minimizing cost for a wide variety of services above and beyond those provided by the district. Each year we award three $500 music scholarships from our citrus profits. We pay for visiting artists like our 2019 Swing In Guest Artist Denis DiBlasio, Electrify Your Strings and Dynamo, sponsor visits by “A Chorus Line” & “The Lion King” dancers, purchase new equipment, costumes and instruments, assist with travel expenses, and help minimize student/parent costs for our upcoming WGHS musical “Hello, Dolly!”. Each of these enrichment opportunities directly benefits your children.
On Tuesday, October 29th, your child will receive a West Genesee Citrus Sale packet in their class or rehearsal. Enclosed will be a flyer that describes our products, individualized sales slips, and an order compilation sheet. On the back of this letter is the instruction sheet for the sale. We would appreciate any encouragement and support you can offer your child with this sale. We have strived to keep prices reasonable and affordable.
This year we will again sell our popular line-up including delicious California navel oranges, Florida oranges and red grapefruits, and imported Clementines. Also, we are continuing our sales incentive from last year. For every five boxes of fruit sold, a student will be issued a raffle ticket. At the end of the sales period, we will select two random tickets at the December 6th HS Staff meeting to win a $50.00 VISA gift card. The top 3 sellers will also be awarded a $50.00 gift card!
The Citrus Sale will begin on Tuesday, October 29th. All completed orders must be received in the Fine Arts Office by Monday, December 2nd. The fruit will be delivered to us on Friday, December 13th and will be available for pick up that afternoon and evening from 2:30–6:00 p.m. as well as the next morning, Saturday, December 14th from 9-11 a.m. Every year we welcome parents who wish to help with filling orders and loading fruit into cars. Please call me at 315-487-4612 if you would like to join in the fun!
Thank you so much for your continued outstanding support of our students and Fine Arts Programs. I look forward to an extremely “fruitful” Citrus Sale 2019!
