Dear Guardians, Parents, and Students,
Based on the hybrid schedule that has been put in place due to the COVID pandemic and New York State Education and New York Health Department guidelines, students’ schedules will be pared down to four core classes, foreign language and up to two electives, which may include the foreign language.
Our course offerings will be limited for all of our students this year. School counselors will do their best to honor course selections made by your student in the spring, but preference will be given to our senior class students in elective placement for their graduation requirements.
Our goal in the return to school is the safety of our students. To minimize social contact, some of our class offerings have changed. In order to meet the New York State Department of Education requirements for social distancing within the classroom setting and to place certified teachers in all of those classrooms, courses that were previously offered as Regents or Enriched will only be offered in a Regents level for this year.
School counselors may be reaching out to your students in the next few weeks to discuss elective options if your student will be affected. We understand the importance of a diverse educational experience and we plan to offer as many electives as our staffing will allow.
Although these are challenging times, we are committed to providing the best opportunities for our students and we look forward to bringing our Wildcat family back together again.
Sincerely,
Wayne Ackles
Executive Principal
