We would like to welcome Officer Charles Fassinger to Onondaga Road Elementary School. Officer Fassinger is their new School Patrol Officer (SPO) and will be in the building working with both staff and students each school day!
Officer Fassinger comes to West Genesee with a career spanning over 20 years in Law Enforcement. He started his career with our local Camillus Police Department, where he was a patrol officer for 9 years, as well as working as part of the Department’s Explorer Post and being in charge of the Police Department Color Guard. Upon leaving Camillus Police, he continued on and finished his career with the Syracuse Police Department. His experience in the Law Enforcement Patrol Division included Patrol Officer, Evidence Technician and Field Training Officer. In addition to his Law Enforcement background, Officer Fassinger is also a US Army Military Police veteran, where his 5 year service included deployments during Desert Storm.
In addition to being a West Genesee SPO Officer, and a former member of the Camillus Police Department, Officer Fassinger is also a part of the West Genesee family as the father of two children, one being a West Genesee Graduate and the other currently a student at the high school.
Principal Clark shared, “Officer Fassinger has quickly become an integral member of our Onondaga Road School community. He has made significant connections with our students and interacts with them daily in various settings. Officer Fassinger is instrumental in keeping a positive connection with the greater community as well. He recently orchestrated our Emergency Responders Day at school, and he invited many responders from the community at large to visit with our students: WAVES Ambulance, NYS State Troopers, Onondaga County Sheriffs, Fairmount Fire Department, and Camillus Police Department. Throughout the school year, Officer Fassinger will also be with us as we host many after-school community events. We are lucky to have him with us!”
