The West Genesee Central School District is currently experiencing a school bus driver shortage. In order to have the least impact on our students’ learning experience, we are developing contingency plans in the event that we do not have enough drivers to cover every run on any given day.
Our plan will include delaying certain buses at one of our buildings, beginning with an elementary school. Once the affected school has been determined, an alert from our SchoolMessenger system will go out to families identifying these buses and the approximate time delayed. In many cases, these same buses will also be on a delayed dismissal for that afternoon. In those circumstances, a second message will be sent as early in the day as possible to confirm that information.
This plan will be used on an as needed basis and will rotate among schools so that the same students and schools are not affected each time we have to implement it.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we continue to maneuver operations to maintain in-person instruction for all students during these unprecedented times.
