Message from WGHS Administrators: Fire Alarm

January 14, 2022

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers,

Good afternoon. This morning, during the morning announcements, the fire alarm sounded requiring a building evacuation. The fire department responded quickly and we were able to determine that the alarm was pulled by a student. The student has been identified and has received a consequence in accordance with the code of conduct. WGHS staff did a wonderful job of responding quickly to move all students outside during a period of the day where we are still transitioning to classrooms.

Due to the temperature outside, the transportation department was called immediately and were on standby to pick up students and staff should the wait to re-enter the building take too long. In real evacuations (not drills), we must wait for the fire department to arrive, assess the problem, and release us to re-enter the premises. From the time the alarm sounded to when we announced students and staff could re-enter the building was under 10 minutes.

As always, we are very appreciative of our local fire and police department for their continued support and reliability. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Tracy Klefbeck, Principal of Building Operations, in the WGHS main office.

Sincerely,
The WGHS Administrative Team
