Jenkins Memorial Scholarship For Teacher Education

PURPOSE:  The Jenkins Memorial Scholarship for Teacher Education was established in October, 1946 as a living memorial to young people who lost their lives in military service during WWII.  It was named in memory of Clifford Jenkins, Jr. who was the son of Margaret Jenkins, NYS PTA President (1944-47) and National PTA President (1961-64). The purpose of the project is to assist outstanding students in preparing for the teaching profession.


  • plan to prepare for a teaching degree
  • plan to attend a SUNY college or attend a 2 year community college before transferring to a bachelor’s degree program in education at a SUNY school
  • have not accepted scholarships exceeding the monetary value of $16,000
  • attend a public high school in NYS in a school district where there is a PTA/PTSA unit in good standing
