Transitioning to a New Communication System on July 1

The West Genesee Central School District will transition to using the SchoolMessenger communication system on July 1, 2020.

As we transition, we will be keeping the Mobile App from Blackboard for the upcoming year and will continue to push out notifications to people that have the app on their phone. The calendars, news, directory and other current information will continue to feed to the mobile app.

This system will not have a community sign-up component from our website as Blackboard does. We therefore plan to include additional guardians in communications (this would be those additional individuals that are listed in Schooltool with the student’s information, ie. grandparent or a caretaker).

The week of June 22, we will be testing the new system and you may receive a few emails from both the new system and the current system. This will help us verify that information from the new system is not going to your spam/junk folders.

Once we start testing, the system will automatically send a text to anyone who is loaded into the SchoolMessenger system based on a daily feed from Schooltool. The text message will give each person the choice to continue to receive texts, or opt-out of receiving texts in the future.

Please be on the lookout for more information as we roll out the new system and you can send any questions about the transition to publications@westgenesee.org.
