CMS eighth grader, Sofiya Hevko (pictured at right), has won the World Language Week Poster Contest for LECNY (Language Educators of CNY) for grades 6-8.
The LECNY Poster Contest was held back in March and was open to students in grades 6-12 whose teachers are current members of LECNY. One winner was chosen from grades 6-8 and another winner was chosen from grades 9-12.
The winner will be presented with a certificate and a $50 check. Due to COVID-19 there will not be an end of the year meeting to honor students winning awards.
At the school level competition held at CMS 8th grader Alexa Pallone came in first place; 7th grader Kierstin Lee came in second place; 8th grader Sofiya Hevko came in third place.
This year’s theme for National Foreign Language week is “Open Your Mind to Language”.
