West Genesee Welcomes Bret Zvacek to 53rd Annual Swing-In

2023 Swing In PosterWest Genesee welcomes Bret Zvacek to our 53rd Annual Swing-In concert. The WGHS Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Band will be featured with Zvacek. The concert is on Thursday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the West Genesee High School Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults for all seats.

He has performed with The Woody Herman Orchestra, Kenny Wheeler, and numerous other jazz artists. Since September 2005, Bret has served as the Musical Director of the Central New York Jazz Orchestra (Syracuse), collaborating with artists including Phil Woods, Hubert Laws, Bobby Watson, Joe Locke, and others.

In 2011, Bret was commissioned to write a multi-movement work for jazz orchestra, “A

White Horse From Jerusalem” which featured NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) Jazz Master David Liebman as soloist. He has written big band music for numerous professional and student ensembles, has also written for orchestra and concert band, and has arranged/conducted horn & string tracks in various New York studios.

He has held teaching positions at University of North Texas, McGill University, and at The Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam. Bret Zvacek is a clinician and performing artist for the Yamaha Corporation of America.
