West Genesee High School had nine students participate in the 2019-2020 Optimist International Essay Contest sponsored by our local Camillus Optimist Club.

“Is Optimism the Key to Achieving the Dreams you Imagine?” was the topic this year.

Hannah Craybas and Easha Sureshkumar Nair placed first. Sureshkumar Nair’s essay will be submitted to the next level to compete at the District Level. (Craybas had an essay compete at the District Level last year and therefore cannot submit her essay this year.)

The remaining students who will be receiving local recognition from the Camillus Optimist Club are: Sarah Petrus, Lauren Puchta, and Julia Colabufo

President of the Camillus Optimist’s Club, Chris Jones, coordinated this for the local club and shared, “We are encouraged by the strong showing of participation in this event, and the great support that we received from you and your organization. This is the second year that we have sponsored  this event but we plan to continue this effort in the coming years.” Thank you to him and the Camillus Optimists for all that they do for our community!
