
West Genesee High School had 19 students participate in the 2017 -2018 Optimist International Essay Contest sponsored by our local Camillus Optimist Club. “Can Society Function Without Respect?” was the topic this year.
The winners of this year’s essay contest are listed below.
Cassandra Felicia placed first and her essay will be submitted to the next level to compete at the District Level for a $2,500 Scholarship.
The remaining students who will be receiving local recognition from the Camillus Optimist Club are:
Second Place -Hannah Craybas
Third Place -Lindsey Cunningham
Fourth Place -Michael White
Fifth Place -Ben Davis
President of the Camillus Optimist’s Club, Chris Jones, coordinated this for the local club and shared, “We are encouraged by the strong showing of participation in this event, and the great support that we received from you and your organization. This is the first year that we have sponsored this event but we plan to continue this effort in the coming years.” Thank you to him and the Camillus Optimist’s for all that they do for our community!
