Young WGMS Scientists Showcase their Projects

On March 2, 27 West Genesee Middle School students displayed 18 Science Fair projects that covered multiple areas of science and engineering. Everyone of the projects involved hours of work that involved the learning skills of questioning, research, making observations, taking chances and persevering through difficult challenges.

At the conclusion of the science fair three projects were selected for awards.

  • 1st place-Olivia Capozi-Grade 6-“Acids and Bases.”
  • 2nd place-Sarah Sullivan and Emma Caltabiano-Grade 5-“Strawberry DNA.”
  • 3rd place-Richard Schubmel-Grade 5-“Magic Electrolysis”

The remaining 6th grade participants were:  Sophia Babcock, Peyton BeVard, Brayden Lee Bielby,  Allyson Blind,  Chen Bose, Ryan Buff,  Ryan Champlin, Amelia Cleaver,  Emma Cook, Aaron Cristman, Khloe Dowdell, Cadence Falchi, Kaitlin Grandinetta, Stella Johnson, Kyla King, Parley Millar, Flynn Morchauser, Maddison Perkins, Levi Pontello,  and Penny Schultz.

The remaining 5th grade participants were:  Addison Davis, Lillian Madden, and Maddox Rhodes.
