new AP at WGIS

On July 2, 2025, Brett Slemmer was appointed by the Board of Education to the position of Assistant Principal at West Genesee Intermediate School. She fills the position left vacant by Victoria Lee who recently left the District. She will start on August 4, 2025.

She worked as an administrative intern at OCM BOCES with a focus on Special Education this past school year. This included developing leadership initiatives, supporting processes, and collaborating with staff. These experiences will certainly add to her continued impact for students, staff, and families.

At OCM BOCES she was also a Work-Based Learning Coordinator for seven years, and prior to that she was a Behavior Specialist at Wesley Spectrum Academy in Pittsburgh, PA.

Slemmer holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from SUNY Cortland, and is certified as a School Building Leader (SBL) and School District Leader (SDL). She previously earned a Master of Science in School Counseling and a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Canisius College.

Superintendent Bills shared, “Ms. Slemmer comes to West Genesee with strong endorsements and a record of service. She is passionate about students and engaging with families, builds strong relationships, employs a thoughtful approach, and has a great vision of supporting the community. Hard worker, motivated, and collaborator were words shared from her professional past. We are excited for her to be joining the Wildcat Team!”

On a personal note, Slemmer stated she is excited to begin her journey at West Genesee as she transitions from an administrative internship into the role of an assistant principal. She enjoys spending time with family, long weekends in the Adirondacks, soaking up sun at the beach, and finding new places to explore. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, DIY home projects, and live music. They are big Philadelphia Eagles fans and try to get to a game whenever they can!
