West Genesee Intermediate School Bands participated in the NYSSMA Major Organization Evaluation Festival hosted at John C. Birdlebough HS on April 29 and 30.
Congratulations for receiving the following honors:
*Fifth Grade Period 3 Band received a GOLD rating
*Fifth Grade Period 9 Band received a GOLD rating
*Sixth Grade Period 1 Band received a SILVER rating
*Sixth Grade Period 10 Band received a GOLD WITH DISTINCTION rating
Fifth Grade Bands are directed by Stephanie Mata Mercado and sixth Grade Bands are directed by Nick Rizzo.
NYSSMA Major Organization Festivals are opportunities for ensembles (band, chorus, orchestra, or jazz ensemble) to perform for two specially trained adjudicators.
Ensembles can compete at six different levels with music designated by the NYSSMA Manual. Each ensemble is given taped and written comments on their performance, and awarded a rating such as Gold, Silver, or Bronze.
