On June 18, 2025, Meghan Leonardis was appointed by the Board of Education to the position of Assistant Principal at West Genesee High School. She fills the position left vacant by Jasmine Mathis who will become the Camillus Middle School Principal on June 27, 2025. She will start on July 1, 2025.
She worked as a full-time administrative intern at West Genesee High School this past school year; developing initiatives, supporting building processes, and collaborating with staff. These experiences will certainly add to her continued impact for students, staff, and families.
Leonardis holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from SUNY Oswego, and is certified as a School Building Leader (SBL) and School District Leader (SDL). She previously earned a Master of Science in Elementary Education and also attended Villanova University where she secured a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
She taught Kindergarten and first grade at Stonehedge Elementary School for ten years, and prior to that taught at the elementary level in the Westhill, Syracuse City and Philadelphia City School districts.
On a personal note, Leonardis stated she is excited to continue her journey at West Genesee as she transitions from her administrative internship into the role of assistant principal. “Over the last decade, this district has come to feel like home, and I deeply value the strong relationships I’ve built with students, staff, and families.” Leonardis will be sending two children to college this fall and is looking forward to enjoying one-on-one time with her youngest son.
