Desiree Saladin

On July 28, 2026 Desiree Saladin was appointed by the Board of Education as the new Assistant Director of Special Education with a focus on K-4. She replaces Karen Quill and has an official start date on or about August 31, 2026.

Saladin has served as the Director of Special Education at Fulton City School District since 2022 and was a Restorative Practices Specialist there before holding the director position. Prior to that she was a Special Education Teacher Leader, School Building Leader Intern, and School District Leader Intern at OCM BOCES. Before moving to the Syracuse area in 2011, she was a Special Education Teacher at the School at Springbrook.

Throughout her educational career, Saladin has earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Niagara University, a Master of Science in Elementary and Special Education from Touro University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History with a concentration in Elementary Education from Hartwick College. Her NYS certification areas include School District Leader (SDL), School Building Leader (SBL), Special Education (Birth-6), and Elementary Education (Birth-6). She is also a certified Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS) trainer.

On a personal note, Saladin and her husband, Tyler, have three children- Colton (12), Caden (10), and Harper (8). In her free time, she enjoys coaching little league softball and serving as the Parent Teacher Organization President at one of her children's schools. She also loves spending time outdoors and cheering on her children and their teammates at their various sporting events.

Saladin is looking forward to the opportunity to get to know and collaborate with the families of West Genesee to build strong partnerships that empower every student to reach their full potential.
