At the Board of Education meeting held on August 26, 2026 Krystal Cole was approved as the new School Information Officer for the District. Her start date is September 14, 2026, as she replaces Bonnie Russell who will retire on October 9, 2026.
Cole has worked at Spectrum News as a Multimedia Journalist for the last seven-plus years. While there she has gained experience in a fast paced news environment and displayed her knack for powerful storytelling across broadcast, digital, and written platforms. She is adept at adapting stories for digital and social media channels, both of which allow the bridge between social media content and journalism. She also has supported the website and social media channels for the Lansing United Methodist Church.
She earned a B.A. Broadcasting & Mass Communication with minors in Audio Design & Production, and Public Justice from the State University of New York at Oswego.
On a personal note, in her spare time Krystal loves reading, growing her book collection, seeing musicals, and spending time with her cheagle, Tanzy. She’s excited to be joining the West Genesee community and is looking forward to meeting students, teachers, staff, and families!
