Message from CMS Principal-December 19, 2025

Dear CMS Families,

As we head into Winter Recess, I want to take a moment to wish you and your loved ones a joyful, restful, and healthy holiday season. This first half of the school year has flown by, and I am incredibly proud of all that our Camillus Middle School community has accomplished together.

Our students have truly shined this year,  from academic growth in classrooms, to outstanding performances in music and the arts, to strong participation in clubs, athletics, and student leadership opportunities. We’ve celebrated school spirit, strengthened our sense of belonging, and continued building a school culture rooted in respect, learning, and community.

As we enjoy this break, I encourage students, especially our musicians, to continue practicing their instruments and nurturing their talents. A little practice goes a long way, and we can’t wait to see how much they continue to grow in the new year.

I’m also excited to share that when we return from break, our CMS Interact Club will be participating in a meaningful service project in partnership with the Rotary Club of Camillus–Solvay–Geddes. As part of Rotary’s January service initiative, students will be supporting United Way’s Share the Warmth campaign, which collects winter clothing to help keep local families warm during the coldest months.

The CMS Interact Club is part of the global Rotary International network of student service clubs, and projects like this allow our students to build leadership skills while giving back to our community. This initiative also aligns beautifully with the MLK Day of Service, reminding us that service is one of the most powerful ways to honor Dr. King’s legacy.

Donation Collection Details:

  • Donations will be collected at school through January 15

  • Items needed for men, women, and children include:

    • New or gently used coats

    • New mittens and gloves

    • New hats and scarves

    • New socks

Thank you, families, for your continued partnership, generosity, and support. Your involvement makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and our greater community.

I look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for a strong start to the new year. Until then, please enjoy this special time with family and friends.

Warmest holiday wishes,

Mrs. Jasmine Mathis

Hello CMS Families,

As we settle into the winter months, it’s hard to believe that we’ve already moved through the first fifteen weeks of the school year. With the marking period wrapping up in just five weeks, now is a great time to check in on SchoolTool and Google Classroom to make sure your child is on track. This week, we will also be conducting our scheduled safety drills. These practices are an important part of keeping our school community prepared, informed, and protected.

Winter certainly made its presence known this week! With colder weather settling in, please continue to keep an eye on ParentSquare for any updates regarding delays or cancellations, and be sure students are dressed appropriately for the day’s conditions. A reminder that Winter Recess begins this Friday, and there will be no IT sessions on that day. Please note that the last day of school for students before break is Friday, December 19, 2025.

We are also excited to share that students will participate in their next Second Step lesson on Monday. These lessons are an important part of our ongoing commitment to social-emotional learning and helping students build skills around empathy, responsibility, and decision-making.

Additionally, we invite all families to join us for our next PTO meeting on January 6, 2025. It is never too late to get involved, and we would love to welcome new faces and voices as we continue working together to support our students and school community.

Thank you for partnering with us and for reinforcing the values we hold at CMS: staying safe, being responsible, showing respect, extending kindness, and always working together. There truly is no better place to learn and grow than here at Camillus Middle School.

Wishing you a great week ahead, and as always: Be Safe. Be Responsible. Be Respectful. Be Kind. But most importantly, Be Better Together.
It’s a great day to be a Wildcat! 🐾

Warm regards,
Mrs. Jasmine Mathis

Family Message-November 21, 2025

Dear CMS Families,

As we approach Thanksgiving, now less than a week away, I want to begin by expressing my sincere gratitude. It is truly an honor to serve and partner alongside you on your child’s educational journey. We have so much to be thankful for, and I encourage you to take time this season to reflect on the wonderful things in your lives. For me, the CMS community is something I am grateful for every single day, and especially during this season.

As we head into our much-anticipated holiday break, I would like to share a few important updates and celebrations from the past few weeks.

Academic Updates: All report cards were sent via parent square and can be viewed on SchoolTool as well.  As we are a couple weeks into the new quarter, please continue to check SchoolTool and Google Classroom to stay current with your scholar’s progress and academic needs.

Paige’s Pajamarama: Thank you to all who participated in Paige’s Pajamarama. Your generosity and school spirit help support children and families battling pediatric cancer, and we are grateful for your ongoing compassion.

Celebrating Our Musicians: We continue to celebrate the remarkable success demonstrated during our recent Orchestra and Chorus concerts. Our student musicians brought so much joy to the stage through their commitment, hard work, and talent. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments and appreciative of the dedication shown by our CMS music staff.

Your Voice Matters, Panorama Family Survey:  As we plan for the future, your feedback is invaluable. The Panorama Family Survey is now open, and we invite you to share your experiences with the West Genesee Central School District. Your thoughtful responses directly inform our Strategic Planning to ensure we continue to provide high-quality learning experiences for all students. Dear CMS Families,

I hope you and your families enjoyed the long weekend and had a meaningful Veterans Day as we paused to honor those who have served our country. This past week was certainly a unique one, with Veterans Day, a Professional Development Superintendent’s Day for staff, and even our first snowfall of the season! I know our teachers were grateful that the snow arrived while students were home safe and able to enjoy it with you.

During our Professional Development Day, teachers engaged in rich and meaningful learning experiences focused on strengthening instruction and collaboration. We are excited to bring this learning back into classrooms as we continue to support every student’s growth.

Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support. We’re looking forward to another productive and engaging week of teaching and learning ahead!

Wishing you a great week ahead, and as always, Be Safe, Responsible, Be Respectful, Be king, but most importantly, Be Better Together. It's a great day to be a Wildcat!

Warm regards,
Mrs. Mathis
