Friday Message from CMS Administration-May 1, 2026

Dear Families,

It’s been a strong and productive week at CMS.

Our 8th-grade students completed the New York State Science Assessment, and we are proud of the focus and effort they demonstrated throughout the testing process. Thank you for your support in helping them come prepared and ready to do their best each day.

Looking ahead, on Monday and Tuesday, students will participate in the New York State ELA Assessment. A good night’s rest, a healthy breakfast, and a consistent routine at home can make a meaningful difference in helping students feel confident and ready. Don’t forget to charge Chromebooks Sunday night.

I’d also like to recognize our outstanding principal, Mrs. Mathis. May 1st is National Principal’s Day, and we are grateful for her vision, leadership, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to the CMS community. We are fortunate to have her leading our school.

Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support.

Sincerely,

CMS Administration

Joe Curtin

Message from the Principal-April 10, 2026

Dear CMS Families,

April has arrived, bringing with it the promise of warmer weather and a renewed sense of energy as we move into the final stretch of the school year. As we approach the end of the third marking period, I encourage families to continue checking SchoolTool regularly to ensure that your scholar is staying on track academically and taking advantage of all available supports.

I would also like to take a moment to again emphasize the importance of consistent student attendance. Each day in school matters, and regular attendance plays a critical role in academic success, student engagement, and overall well-being. Our staff is committed to supporting every student, every day, and we truly want to see all of our Wildcats present and ready to learn.

April is also a busy and exciting time at CMS. We look forward to celebrating our students through upcoming events, recognizing our Student of the Month honorees, and supporting our scholars as they participate in the NYS assessments. We are confident that our students will demonstrate their growth, perseverance, and dedication.

As always, we appreciate your continued partnership in supporting our school community. Together, we will continue to foster an environment where students are safe, respectful, responsible, and kind, because we are truly Better Together.

It’s a great day to be a Wildcat!

Warm regards,

Mrs. Mathis

Message from the Principal-March 13, 2026

Dear CMS Families,

March is upon us, and we are hopeful that warmer weather will arrive soon as we have officially sprung forward into longer days. As we move through the month, I encourage families to check SchoolTool regularly to ensure that your scholar is in good academic standing as we approach the end of the third marking period.

I also want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of student attendance. Being present in school each day is one of the most important factors in student success. In New York State, research shows that students who miss 10% or more of the school year are considered chronically absent, which can significantly impact academic performance and connection to school. Our teachers look forward to educating and supporting our scholars each day, and we truly want to see them here and engaged in learning daily.

There are several exciting events happening at CMS this week. We look forward to celebrating Spirit Week and supporting an important cause during St. Baldrick’s. Our Student of the Month Ceremony will take place on March 17, 2026 at 8:15 a.m. Families of students being honored are warmly invited to attend.

Please note that there will be no school for students on Friday, March 20, 2026. Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our CMS school community. As you go throughout your day, we encourage everyone to be safe, be responsible, be respectful, and be kind, but most importantly, be Better Together.

It’s a great day to be a Wildcat!

Warm regards,

Mrs. Mathis

Principal, Camillus Middle School

Family Message

This week, we celebrated World Language Week at school. Students enjoyed hearing a variety of languages during the morning announcements, which was a great way to recognize and celebrate the diversity in our community.

Congratulations to our Battle of the Books team for finishing the competition with an impressive performance. Our Math League team also had a successful meet this week. In addition, many of our Winter II sports teams are wrapping up their seasons. We are proud of the hard work and dedication these students showed while representing our school.

Families are also encouraged to attend the District Culture Fair on Saturday, March 7 at 12:00 PM at the high school. This event is a great opportunity to celebrate the many cultures represented in our community.
