Interim Principal

Message from East Hill Principal-June 16, 2026

Dear East Hill Families,

It has been an absolute honor and privilege to serve as your Interim Principal. From the moment I stepped into this role, I was reminded of what makes East Hill such a special place—the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our students, and the partnership of our families. The care, kindness, and commitment shown throughout our school community have been truly inspiring.

Tomorrow, our students will enjoy East Hill Field Days—a wonderful tradition filled with teamwork, laughter, and school spirit. Families who attend the afternoon session of Field Days may plan to sign their child out after the event.

Next week, we will celebrate our 4th graders during their Moving Up Ceremony as they prepare to transition to West Genesee Intermediate School. We are incredibly proud of the growth, resilience, and accomplishments of this group of students and cannot wait to see what they achieve next.

As we close out the year, thank you to our students, staff, and families for making East Hill such a welcoming and joyful place. The memories created this year are a reflection of the strong community we have built together.

I wish everyone a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved summer break. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be part of the East Hill story this year.

Sincerely,

Rob

Dear East Hill Families,

As we enter the final weeks of the school year, there is much to celebrate at East Hill!

Last week, our school community proudly supported our students who participated in the Wildcat Olympics. The excitement was contagious as classmates and staff cheered on our Olympians during their departure and throughout the day's events. It was inspiring to see our students demonstrate determination, sportsmanship, and school pride while representing East Hill. The smiles, encouragement, and sense of community on display made the event a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Our Kindergarten students also enjoyed a wonderful field trip to the zoo. The trip provided an exciting opportunity for students to explore, learn, and connect classroom learning with real-world experiences. Judging by the stories they brought back, it was a day filled with discovery and fun.

As we look ahead, we are excited for several end-of-year traditions that bring our school community together. East Hill Field Days will take place on June 17th and promise a day of fun, teamwork, and outdoor activities for our students. We are also looking forward to celebrating our 4th graders during their Moving Up Ceremony on June 24th as we recognize their accomplishments and wish them success as they prepare for the transition to West Genesee Intermediate School.

The final weeks of the school year are always busy, but they are also filled with opportunities to celebrate growth, achievement, and the strong sense of community that makes East Hill such a special place. We look forward to making many more memories together before summer begins.

Sincerely,

Rob

Message from East Hill Principal-May 19, 2026

We have had a very busy and productive couple of weeks here at East Hill. First, I want to share a sincere thank you to our PTA for everything they did to honor our staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. The snacks and kind gestures really meant a lot to our teachers and made the week feel special.

We also want to recognize our 3rd and 4th graders for their hard work on the Spring Concert. It was great to see our 4th-grade band and orchestra students perform, and our combined 3rd and 4th-grade chorus did an excellent job with their program. It is clear that these students have put in a lot of practice time, and it showed in their performance.

Beyond the music, we recently welcomed a group of West Genesee High School students who spent the morning reading to our Kindergarten and 1st-grade classes. Before their visits, the high school students carefully selected grade-level-appropriate books and dedicated time to preparing and practicing. The students served as positive role models. Thank you to everyone who participated in creating this meaningful experience. It was a unique opportunity to connect our youngest and oldests students through the joy of reading. We are looking forward to a strong finish to the school year and appreciate your continued support at home.

Sincerely,

Rob

Dear East Hill Elementary School Families,

My name is Robert Leo, and I am writing to introduce myself as the Interim Principal at East Hill Elementary School, serving in this role until the end of the 2025-26 school year.

I want to extend my deepest thanks to Susan Meskos for her many years of service as Principal and wish her well on her retirement. I owe her a debt of gratitude for her leadership and for setting the stage for a successful end of the school year.

As many of you may already know, I have had the privilege of stepping in periodically over the years to lead East Hill and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to do so again. I am committed to supporting our dedicated and passionate team of educators who work tirelessly for the benefit of our students. It has been an absolute joy getting to know the students at East Hill, and I look forward to leading the school through the remainder of this year.

Sincerely,

Rob
