Message from East Hill Principal-September 25, 2026
East Hill families,
Three weeks in, and there is a lot to be excited about at East Hill.
Most importantly, our building is full of students learning, growing, laughing, and showing us what it means to be a Wildcat. We are seeing the Wildcat Way come to life in classrooms, hallways, on the playground, and throughout the day. It has been great to see students settling into routines while bringing their own energy and personality to our school.
We have also had some great opportunities to come together as a school community. Curriculum Night gave families and teachers time to connect, and our first PTA meeting had a great turnout and a lot of positive energy. Thank you to everyone who has helped make these first few weeks such a strong start.
There are some great things ahead of us over the next few weeks. Jogathon is Monday! A huge thank you to our PTA for organizing such a great event for our students. We are excited to see our Wildcats out there having fun, cheering each other on, and coming together as a school community. Please see the information below for all of the details.
We will also be completing our universal screening process from September 28 through October 2. During this time, we will review student academic progress and use that information to help identify any additional supports students may need. This is an important part of making sure we understand where each student is and how we can best support their continued growth.
Three weeks in, there is already so much happening at East Hill, and we are looking forward to all that is ahead. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community and for continuing to partner with us each day.

Message From East Hill Elementary School Principal-September 11, 2026
What a great start to the school year it has been at East Hill.
The moment our students walked through the doors, the building came alive. The excitement in the classrooms and hallways was everywhere, and it was pretty special to see our staff and students back together. After all the preparation that goes into getting ready for a new year, there is nothing quite like seeing our school filled with kids again.
I have also really enjoyed connecting with our families during these first few days. Thank you to our PTA for the welcome balloons and for helping make the start of the year feel so special.
This week we also held our first Passport Day. Students spent time learning about the Wildcat Way and what it looks like to be safe, respectful, and responsible throughout our school. We talked about expectations in different areas of the building and gave students a chance to practice them. These shared expectations give us a path to follow as we work together to make East Hill a place where everyone belongs and can be successful.
As we move into the year, I want to encourage our families to talk with your children about the Wildcat Way at home, celebrate the moments when they see it in action, and remind them that they each have an important part to play in our school community. When students, staff, and families are all moving in the same direction, great things happen.
We are just getting started, and I am excited for what is ahead. Thank you for being part of our East Hill community and for helping us create the kind of school we can all be proud of.

Message From East Hill Elementary School Principal-July 8, 2026
Dear East Hill Families,
My name is Joe Curtin, and I am excited and honored to introduce myself as the new principal of East Hill Elementary School.
Over the past 13 years, I have had the privilege of serving the West Genesee Central School District as an elementary teacher, District Math Coach, and most recently as the Assistant Principal at Camillus Middle School. Before returning to West Genesee, I taught 4th grade at Hartwood Elementary School in Virginia. Each of these experiences has reinforced my belief that strong relationships are the foundation of a great school, and I am excited to continue building those relationships here at East Hill.
East Hill is already a familiar place to me. During my time as the district’s K–6 Math Coach, I spent two years working alongside the talented staff and wonderful students here. Even then, it was easy to see what makes East Hill such a special school where students are known, families are valued, and people genuinely care for one another. Returning in this new role truly feels like coming home.
As we prepare for a new school year, I look forward to getting to know each of our students, families, and staff members. I believe the best schools are built on trusting relationships and open communication, with everyone working together to help children thrive. My promise is to be a positive, visible leader who listens, collaborates, and always keeps students at the center of every decision while honoring the traditions that make East Hill such a special place.
Thank you for welcoming me to East Hill. I cannot wait to meet each of you and begin this exciting new chapter together.
