Message from Split Rock Elementary School Principal-January 9, 2026
I cannot tell you how impressed I am with both our Wildcats and our staff. Returning from a break can sometimes be challenging, but our Split Rock community did an amazing job. It did not take much time at all for students to settle back in and get into their routines, which is truly a testament to how wonderful our Split Rockers are.
We would also like to congratulate our Wildcats of the Month and Golden Award winners for December. These awards were broadcast during Tuesday’s announcements, and photos of our winners can be found below. Job well done to these students for excelling in all areas while consistently upholding our building-wide expectations of Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be Present. Very impressive work!
Looking ahead, we are excited to begin our Book Buddy Program. Once a month, grade levels will partner together to read with one another, fostering a love of reading while building meaningful connections across grade levels. Through shared reading experiences, discussions, and collaborative activities, students will continue to strengthen literacy skills, social interactions, and their sense of community at Split Rock.
We look forward to continuing this great momentum into next week and hope to see many of you on Friday, January 16, at Family Bingo Night from 6:00–7:30 p.m. in the Split Rock Cafeteria (see flyer below).
Have a great weekend!
BE AWESOME!

Our Wildcats finished strong this week and had a lot of fun doing it! Throughout the week, students continued to work hard in their classrooms, while our staff also made sure there was time to celebrate the holiday season together. It was wonderful to see classroom visitors and family members join us to share in these special moments with their children and classmates.
We were also fortunate to welcome Officer Brand and the education staff from the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center, who co-presented lessons focused on body safety and personal safety skills. These sessions helped students understand how to recognize and respond to potentially unsafe situations in a comfortable, age-appropriate, and engaging way. A big thank you to Officer Brand and the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center for all that they do for our Wildcats.
This has been a full and meaningful stretch of learning, and our staff, students, and families have certainly earned this break. I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday and hope you are able to enjoy this time with friends and family.
We look forward to welcoming our Wildcats back on Monday, January 5.

It was wonderful to welcome everyone back after the Thanksgiving break, even with the chilly temperatures and a bit of snow to navigate! Despite the weather, we had a great week here at "The Rock."
I would like to extend a huge congratulations to Mrs. Giufre and our Grade 3 and Grade 4 chorus members for their outstanding performances yesterday, both during the school day and again in the evening at WGHS. Their hard work, dedication, and talent truly shined. We are incredibly proud of them!
As we look ahead to next week and deeper into the winter season, please ensure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather. Our teachers will continue to take advantage of opportunities to get students outside for recess and fresh air, but students must be prepared with warm clothing in order to participate.
I also want to express a heartfelt thank you for your generosity during Paige’s Pajamarama. Split Rock raised $448.72 to support pediatric cancer research, another powerful testament to the kindness and compassion of our school community.
Lastly, a friendly reminder that first semester report cards will be available for viewing in SchoolTool on Friday, December 12. Please take some time to review your child’s progress and celebrate their growth.

As we head into the Thanksgiving break, I want to take a moment to extend my sincere appreciation to our students, staff and families. This is certainly a well-deserved break for everyone. Over the past three months, Split Rock has accomplished and experienced so much, and I am incredibly proud of the amazing work happening throughout our building. There is still much more ahead, and I look forward to all we will continue to achieve together.
Over the next few days, I hope you find time to rest, enjoy family and friends, and reflect on all we have to be thankful for. If possible, I kindly ask families to take a few minutes during the break to complete the 2025–2026 Climate Survey. Hearing from you plays a vital role in how we continue to shape our work to best support our Wildcats and their families. Please see the information below.
Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, December 1.

The past two weeks have been filled with wonderful moments here at Split Rock! We had a fantastic Veterans Day celebration where our students and staff came together to honor and recognize the brave men and women who have served our country. It was truly a memorable experience for everyone involved. Please take a look below to see some of the special highlights and photos captured throughout the celebration.
As the weather continues to change, we want to remind everyone to make sure students come to school with the proper attire for outdoor activities. Please ensure your child has a warm coat, hat, gloves, and appropriate footwear each day so they can comfortably enjoy recess and physical education outside. We value the time our students spend outdoors for fresh air, movement, and play, and we want all students to have the opportunity to participate safely and comfortably.
As we look ahead to the next two weeks and our upcoming Thanksgiving Break, we are also preparing for Parent-Teacher Conferences. These meetings are an important opportunity to strengthen the connection between home and school, while learning more about your child’s academic progress, social development, and overall well-being. If you have already scheduled your conference, please double-check the date and time so you’re ready. If you haven’t yet scheduled a conference, please reach out to your child’s teacher as soon as possible to do so. We truly value this partnership and the opportunity to work together to support each student’s growth.
BE AWESOME!
