Miss Giannino's ADA-PEP Counselor Message-November 25, 2025
With the winter season approaching, all families will have a long break from school to prepare for, and many will be celebrating holidays. In many cultures, the winter season is about giving, receiving, and connecting with others. During this time, families may also experience stress and uncertainty. This year, our giving program is different; rather than supporting individual families with gifts, we are asking for your support with a gift card drive to help families with various needs.
If you are in a position to donate this year, we kindly request gift cards to nearby businesses (examples include Aldi, Wegmans, Walmart, or Target). If you’d like to donate a gift card, please send it to school in the provided envelope sent home with your child. The deadline to send in gift cards is December 5th.
Each year, a new list is created, so please sign up if you would like to receive donations. To receive this year, please fill out the attached slip sent home with your child by December 1st to be added to the confidential list and return it to school in the envelope provided, or contact me through Parent Square/email at mgiannino@westgenesee.org
For families who are interested in receiving gifts through the community, the Christmas Bureau is another excellent option. Please follow the link for more information. https://easternusa.salvationarmy.org/empire/syracuse/brighten-the-holidays/
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Please know all forms and calls are kept private and confidential. Thank you, and have a safe and fun winter season!
Miss Giannino's ADA-PEP Counselor Message-October 31, 2025
Last week we celebrated Unity Day. It was amazing to see so many students wearing orange to promote kindness and acceptance.
November 3 -14 Split Rock will be collecting the food donations listed below. These donations will directly benefit West Genesee students and families. If you are able please send any donations to school with your child.
Miss Giannino's ADA-PEP Counselor Message
Split Rock Families,
At Split Rock we believe that everyone counts and kindness is a virtue. One way we put this into action is through the Kindness Committee. This committee is a student led group supervised by myself and Mrs. Binns. The opportunity is open to fourth grade students only. Students interested in joining the committee had to complete an application. The application required students to provide references and write a short personal statement. There were an overwhelming amount of wonderful candidates. Ten fourth graders were chosen to participate in the committee this year.
Next week the Kindness Committee will sponsor their first school wide project on Unity Day. The committee is asking you to wear ORANGE on Wednesday October 22. By wearing ORANGE we are sending a visible message of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to prevent bullying.
More information on Unity Day and Pacer's National Bullying Prevention Center can be found on their website.
