West Genesee High School is proud to present the hit musical comedy Something Rotten! on February 5-6 at 7pm; February 7 at 1pm.
Set in the Renaissance, the show follows two struggling playwright brothers, Nick (Micah Schuessler) and Nigel Bottom (Max Nolan), as they attempt to outshine the era’s biggest celebrity—William Shakespeare (John Panek). When a soothsayer (Esme Hougaboom) predicts the future of theater, the brothers set out to create something never seen before… the musical!
Packed with rapid-fire humor, catchy songs, tap-dancing, and countless nods to Shakespeare and Broadway classics, Something Rotten! is a joyful celebration of creativity, ambition, and the chaos of live theater. A wacky cast of over-the-top characters each have their moment to shine as it becomes clear that “nothing’s as amazing as a musical!”
After several years of producing beloved Disney musicals, West Genesee Fine Arts is excited to take a bold step in a new direction with this clever and more mature comedic work, showcasing the growth and range of its student performers and production team. Something Rotten is a humorous and satirical take on Renaissance-era England and the theater world. MTI (Music Theater International) has rated this show PG-13.
Andrea Scerbo, producer; Kristyn Sperduti, director; Tony Alvaro, music director; Natasha Skidmore, choreographer; Don Schuessler, technical director; Cindy Kissane, costume designer; Bill Mercer, lighting designer; Laura Anastasio, director’s assistant; and Anna Borsz, dance captain hope you won’t miss your chance to laugh and cheer at this history-twisting tale!
